I have an American Standard Strat (a purplish color that I think is midnight blue) and an American Standard Tele (vintage white) that are from '89 and '90 (I can never remember which is which). Love the Tele but when I play my annual 'let's play the old songs' picnic gig/party each summer, I pull out the Strat. Better rock sound through my brown Deluxe. Around the house, I play them through my vibro-champ and they sound great (even if I don't). The Tele also gets a nice jazzy sound.

I 've got a Tele - I just want a really great semi hollow .. I love the look of them and the acoustic sound you can get..
Maybe I will have to splash out on a Gibson but I much prefer the neck and headstock of fenders..

No, but everyone I know that has played one says they're terrible.

Doesn't stop me from wanting one.

I have been playing bluegrass banjo for about forty years.
Got bored over the past couple of years..no motivation to play.
Decided to try bass which always intrigued me.
Just started about three months ago.
    Absolutely obsessed with it.
I started out with a cheaply boutique bass to see if I like playing or not.
Once I confirmed how much I love it and how motivated
I am to learn, I bought the Fender.....three days ago !!!!

I have a 25th Anniversary Strat that I bought in 79/80 (can't remember -- I was in high school) and it's the only electric guitar I've ever owned. One slight modification plug (I put in a pre-amp). The paint flaked on the back from my belt buckle and it's *heavy*.

Had I known it would have increased in value so much, I would have kept it in mint connection (sadly, I lost the paperwork in a move somewhere, but it's still got all the other original parts on it...)

But I love it and I'll never part with it!

The Robben Ford models that Gene Built are among the best guitars I have ever owned.

I have a couple of the American Vintage '57 Strat Reissues (Candy Apple Red and Sunburst) that I bought new around 1982/1983. I paid around $700 each. I believe new ones cost around $2,000 today. I also purchased a new '56 Custom Shop Mary Kaye Strat a few years ago. I think I paid around $4,000. To be honest, doesn't feel much different from my two '57 A.V. Reissues.

Even though I'm a Ric fan-atic....I do have a soft spot for Fender guitars. I have an American Standard Strat from the 90s. Here's a pic when I had the stock neck that came with it:

I ended up changing the neck with a Warmoth Clapton V style neck as I liked the radius on that neck and its narrow width at the nut. I suppose I was going for something similar to my Rics. Also the vintage frets felt better than the jumbo ones that are on that Rosewood. I also replaced the pickups with Vintage '60s ones....much better sounding and playing guitar.

First: I'm not a guitarist. Second: That may be a great guitar, but I hate the way it looks. I hate the way all guitars that don't look "traditional" look. Even the Strat doesn't look nearly as perfect as the Tele.

I've got the Jpn blue flower Tele. 1988 build date (Nov 1988 IIRC - if you pull the neck, you should find the date written in pencil). Light guitar w/ very nice playability but the pickups aren't much to brag about (one of these days I need to replace them).

I've never seen a Custom in the flesh. They were made out of leftover parts from the discontinued Electric XII, with a Mustang bridge and vibrato. Too bad they got a little too creative with the band-saw.

They also made the Swinger (or Musiclander) out of leftover Musicmaster and Bass V parts, but this one never even made the catalog:

Ray Davies with Fender acoustic. He's the only non-country guitarist I've ever seen pictured with one of these.

Although I don't consider basses to be guitars, most do. This was my main player for 6-7 years about 15 years ago. 1997 CIJ:
