I was looking for a hockey puck to play around with a DIY record weight to go on my technics 1200, since I have some records with some minor dish warp that I wanted to experiment with and just see if weights did anything. But my worthless sports store didn't have any, but I did pick up a big heavy baseball bat weight. I didn't read the label at the store, but it's rubber encased cast iron or something, and worried it might be magnetized I took my compass and sure enough it is a little magnetic. I haven't put it on my table because I'm worried about impacts on the cartridge. Am I paranoid? Thoughts? Also, it seems to be magnetized across the circle part, so when you spin the weight around the charge flips back and forth, so I'm having nightmares of a whoomp-whoomp picked up by the cartridge if I were to put it on a record. I guess I could try whacking it really hard with a hammer, but I'm thinking I'm probably just better off throwing it away or at a possum or something. Just rambling.
