I agree. It would be nice if Arrow could release the theatrical cut for their own special edition.

Been trying to get The Apostle DVD for some time, report back if it works. Great performance by Robert Duvall btw.

...which is only OK with the fanboys of BLADE RUNNER.

What makes this example particularly nonsensical is that the cut material is all related to the religious beliefs of the terrorists, which is an important part of the movie's plot.

I wonder why they did that? also we can't get True Lies on BD or an anamorphic WS DVD? this PC crap has to stop invading our world.

Don't know. Whenever I bring up the fact that the latest Director's Cut of BLADE RUNNER is all teal-colored, the reaction from most is that it was somehow OK in this case because they LOVE the cut. I can't sit through the tealized version, so I don't know if I like it or not.

Why won’t they release True Lies? I have never heard anything but good things about the film.

Its terribly dated and has that lazy last century type casting of anyone looking Arabic must be a terrorist. Place the strip scene is horribly sexist and creepy.

But apart from that its OK if you like dumb action flicks.

    The Ghost and the Darkness.

Apparently this was released on Blu-ray but only in German, never in English. The only other version is a letterboxed 4:3 non-anamorphic DVD and it sucks. Same problem with the movie Thief (1981) until Criterion re-did it on Blu-ray/DVD.

    Why do they do this?

They still have yet to release the Theatrical cut of the Outsiders on Blu-ray. All that's available is the "The Complete Novel" cut. The movie is still just as great but I definitely prefer the original sound track.

There’s a few I can give here but most are very subtle.

The Jaws BD removes the wire balancing the buoy in the opening scene as well as a sailboat on the horizon in a later scene. The earlier DVD releases have the unaltered film.

The Universal Monster BDs have alterations. The opening credits for Dracula have been rerecreated to remove a noticeable jump cut that was present on every past release. The scene in Frankenstein of Henry and Fritz pushing the slab with corpse up the hill with towards the gallows has been reframed due to a jump cut. A similar alteration was done to Bride of Frankenstein. The shot of the Monster approaching the hermits cabin originally consisted of two shots, one farther one closer. The farther shot is now blown up to match the closer shot in an attempt to make the sequence look like a complete take. What’s distracting about this is a tree branch that was present in the farther shot now noticeably disappears mid shot! Earlier DVD releases have the original films.

The UHD release of Terminator 2 also has alterations done. Some that spring to mind are fixing a continuity error where the windshield to the truck the T1000 drives off the bridge falls out even though a few moments later he pushes it out. Also the obvious stunt doubles in this scene were digitally altered to more resemble the actual actors.
