Amongst all of the excitement of a surfeit of super deluxe edition this autumn a package arrived today that I'd almost forgotten - a book telling the story of the various drummers who played with The Beatles which comes with two CDs featuring a number of these.

Have literally just opened the box so I can't comment on the book or disc yet other than to say that it has had a protracted gestation period. Anyone else order this?

The track list is as follows:

Three Cool Cats - The Beatles
September In The Rain - The Beatles
Take Good Care Of My Baby - The Beatles

Who knows! The book will probably not get a browse until later as my evening is pretty packed but it apparently tells "the untold story of 23 drummers who put the beat in The Beatles."

Was a bit surprised to find Back In The USSR (Paul McCartney drummer) as the last track on CD2 so I had to check. It is the stereo version. I was expecting the Decca material and some BBC tapes but the later recording was a bit of a surprise (particularly with the imminent White Album release).

How is the sound compared to other releases of the early Beatles material?
