I had a friend that somehow had a copy of Alive! It was 76, and we were both 11. He only played me a song or two, no big deal. A few weeks later I was at a department store with my mom. They had a cool display set up for the Destroyer album. I asked her if I could get it and she said yes. We went to grab a copy but they were sold out. I "settled" on Dressed To Kill. Loved it. I have been back and forth with "favorites" over the years, but I always come back to Dressed to Kill. Still a fan.

Alive! was the first KISS I got into, via the neighbors Eight-track.

Dressed to Kill is probably my favorite album.

Sometime between later February and the summer of 1974, I was eleven years old, and I was in the music department of Woolworth's in Cleveland, Ohio (yes, they actually had a music department in Woolworth's back then--it was a lot like, say, Target is now). They had an endcap display of the first KISS album--so the cover was right in your face as you walked down that aisle.

My mom used to regularly buy me albums back then--I was a pretty spoiled kid--and I told her that I wanted "the album with the clowns on the cover." I had no idea what it was going to sound like. I just liked the absurdity of the cover--I liked the idea of a bunch of clowns as a spoof of the Meet the Beatles cover. I've always loved absurdism. I figured that if the music was even half as entertaining as the cover I'd have made a good choice.

I ended up loving them right away, and I've been a big KISS fan ever since.

  8. Creatures of the Night was the first Kiss record that I heard probably back in '95 or '96 borrowed it from the library. My favorite Kiss album would be their debut album.

I guess I didn't answer which is my favorite. That's actually quite easy since live albums don't count in my book (if they did it'd be Alive! in a landslide). It'd be the 1974 debut. It might lack in terms of production, but there are a ton of killer songs on that one. It's the best by far in my opinion.

Same here. It was KISS Destroyer on cassette as well, and this was in 1993, when I was in the eighth grade.

I graduated high school in '79 and grew up in the "Age of Kiss". Kiss Alive! was the real breakthrough - everybody had/heard it in those days. But Destroyer was and is my favorite. The perfect Kiss album, in my opinion

Alive II got me, a friend played it for me and it blew my head off. My favorite now would have to be Alive! and Dynasty is my favorite of the studio albums.

Destroyer was the first KISS album I heard.
Rock and Roll Over is my favorite. (At this point in time!) I switch back and forth between that, the debut, and Hotter Than Hell.

FWIW, you really can't go wrong with any of the 70's KISS records. The classic line-up, classic songs. Great stuff!
