    LUCASFILM // OCTOBER 4, 2018

THE MANDALORIAN FIRST IMAGE, DIRECTORS REVEALED
DETAILS EMERGE FOR LUCASFILM'S LIVE-ACTION SERIES HELMED BY JON FAVREAU.
Production on the first Star Wars live-action streaming series has begun! After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic. The series will be written and executive produced by Emmy-nominated producer and actor Jon Favreau, as previously announced, with Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) directing the first episode. Additional episodic directors include Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok). It will be executive produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist will serve as co-executive producer. Stay tuned to StarWars.com for updates.

Helmed by Jon Favreau. I accidentally posted before adding the surname to the title thread. Sorry about that.

I wonder who will get top billing: him or the bucket he'll be wearing over his head...

I heard mention of a DeLorean, so maybe a Back to The Future tie-in?

Remember all those times when I said the only way Disney was going to get more of my money was to bring back IG-88?

    Where's my check book?

Is “he” going to be in it? Maybe Disney should hire you.

Ok, I'm super pumped to see this...now this is some exciting Star Wars news. New characters, ships, races, planets, stories...bring it on! I love the gritty look and feel.

I get a sense of confidence from the team that they 'get it'...awesome...can't wait.

This is delightful. No plot spoilers, for anyone concerned. This trailer is all mood.

Ok, this looks realy cool. But people being frozen in carbonite? Seriously? Wasn't that something Vader just came up with while being on Bespin? And now it's common Bounty Hunter practice? But whatever, still looks like it could be the coolest new Star Wars stuff out there.

Ok, my interest just went up a bit. This looks quite organic compared to Lucas last three movies.
And I didn't remember that Werner Herzog was being in this but as soon as I heard his iconic voice I got a good feeling about this show

This will be set after ROTJ so it wouldn't surprise me if bounty hunters swiped such an effective technique for keeping their prisoners.

This looks dope. I want more Star Wars stuff like Rogue One, gritty and dark. This looks like it fits the bill. I hope We get to hear Werner Herzog say “May de foerce be wit you.”

For a first episode I think it serves the purpose. Saw some negative reviews as expected. It is really just an extended prologue to the main story was my takeaway.

Ridiculous to me that Disney+ doesn't launch in the UK until the end of March 2020.

Seems that a few people I know on Facebook in the UK have already seen it though, which I presume are yarrrred copies. To be honest with a staggered launch window Disney had this coming.

I enjoyed the first episode of this. Negative reviews were a bit of a surprise to me, I didn't really expect this to be an avant-garde take on the franchise, like Twin Peaks S3 or HBO's Watchmen. If anything there's a lack of space opera style TVs, and a general lack of quality sci-fi shows so I do think the show is going to fill out a unique niche. Production quality is amazing, from the set design to cinematography. Hopefully the rest of the story will match.
