Hoedown was on at least one Columbia multi artist comp back in those days and it certainly kept me from being interested in Poco. From The Inside has done very fine music, but Hoedown holds no interest for me.

I remember buying the album and being totally dismayed by the opening track. I don't hate it like I once did, but it sounded like an attempt to steal the Average White Band's thunder.

"Radio Song" on REM's Out of Time

And, yeah, I know "Shiny Happy People" is on that album. :D

Great pick. I really like this album, but that's a weird, provocative choice for an opener.

"We Dance" from Pavement's Wowee Zowee is an odd duck as well, though I've grown accustomed to it.

Yes! This was my recollection as well and the sequencing works so much better. "Burning Sky" is a great opener ("How are things in your little world. . . "). "Little Boy Soldiers" works as the dramatic climax with "Wasteland" like the denouement. "Strange Town" would have been a better choice for the first song on side two. "Girl On The Phone" is the weakest original track here, so I was surprised to learn that it was lead off track on the UK version.

Take it you're not a big fan of George?
I love blue jay way, piggies, love you to. All classics.
I'd say the worst tracks on MMT are: strawberry fields forever and I am the walrus.

I always skip "Free as a Bird" on the Beatles Anthology. That Jeff Lynne production is mostly unbearable.

The opening song on this album from this ECM Records veteran, Song for Sarah is out of place and just plain weaker than the rest of this otherwise fine album.

I made this tracklist a while ago, it's my preferred version. It's the only time I've ever done it for a Megadeth album. I also dropped Losing My Senses, which I never liked either.

    1. Silent Scorn
    2. Return To Hangar
    3. The World Needs A Hero
    4. Moto Psycho
    5. 1000 Times Goodbye
    6. Burning Bridges
    7. Kill The King (from Capitol Punishment)
    8. Dread And The Fugitive Mind
    9. Recipe For Hate...Warhorse
    10. Promises
    11. When
    12. Coming Home (from the Japanese pressing of 'Hero')

Love lots of George. Have bought his whole solo catalog 3x.

Would love him more if he had not written those 3 songs. Also not terribly impressed with Taxman other than the guitar solo.

I know that pick will make some want to throw daggers at me ;), but I have never cared for Taxman.

I never knew taxman had so much hate til I came across this site. I see people here all the time not liking that track but I always thought it was a really terrific track.

And you're right - it is!

If it wasn't for "And Your Bird Can Sing", "Taxman" would be my favorite song on "Revolver"...

Possibly because Gangland is the worst song on the album

Just as confounding was making it the first song of the show during the Station to Station tour. I was at the first show of that tour in Vancouver in 1976, and had not heard the album---I'm not sure if it was released by the time of the first show. I was completely perplexed by the opening number, and not in a good way. Now, of course, I love it.

I don't think "Black Dog" could have gone anywhere else on the album. It's an astonishing opening track.

I don't think it would fit anywhere else on the album, it is a good song to open an album and I do love the song I just think it's the weakest of the record.

Upon further reflection, my memory that Invaders had a poor chorus almost made me forget that the verses are quite strong!
