I dare Universal to release this in 4K UHD with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. At least one copy would sell.

There's Flash Gordon nods throughout the movie, but that party scene is great.

  3. Great movie - but I may have seen it too many times. I had it on in the background on MGM last night as well, but it didn't hole my interest this time.

(well other than Melody Anderson and Ornella Muti )

Saw it at the theater when it came out, and a friend had the LP soundtrack. I should have fond memories but mostly all I remember is Brian Blessed with wings and the music. Buck Rodgers with Gil Gerrard was released around the same time as a movie and we saw that too. Twiky the robot with Mel Blanc voice vs. Brian Blessed with wings... hard to choose one as more iconic...

Classic movie. Great soundtrack from Queen, as well.

I only watch it when it's on to see Melody Anderson again. Cute, hot and sexy all
at the same time. Deadly combination.

Loved this movie when I saw it as a kid! We didn't realize at the time that it was campy!

When we were kids my best friend and I used to say this at random times in public. Like if we were at the comic book store and found an "oldie" (that is what we called comics with 12 or 15 cents on them) we would say "Gordon's alive!" and would get strange looks from people. hahaha. Good memory.

This is one of those "HBO movies" that I watched a million times as a kid. So many great scenes.

That's my copy too. Made my daughter watch it. She loves Queen and was amused by how ridiculous it all is. Especially Sam Jones' "performance".

One of the best scenes in the movie:

    One of the greatest movies.
As Zarkov explains to Dale, "You can't kill the human spirit," and this movie is full of human spirit.

Killing Ming 20 seconds before the moon hits the earth wouldn't stop anything but I don't care because this movie is so much fun.

I was ten when I saw it in the theatre and of course watched it over and over on HBO. One thing it taught me- there's a degree of camp in every movie. It's all just playacting.

I saw it in a theater when I was 9. The scene where he sticks his hand into the stump scared the crap out of me.

My wife is not a fan of the movie but I did hear her chuckle when General Kala was stating the time for some event and referred to "Mingo-Mean-Time."

Even as a kid I thought it was funny that they didn't know the name of the planet. Klytus says "the inhabitants refer to it as.... Eeeeaarrrthhhhh". And then they push the "earth"quake button. I remember thinking "if they don't know Earth then wouldn't it just be "land-quakes?". No matter, the movie is awesome anyway.

I remember watching this in the theatres on release as a naive 11 year old..........I liked it.
I enquired with the ushers about a poster previewing an upcoming [unknown to me re run] film called Flesh Gordon..........and asked if it was a sequel?..........and told by the female usher.............not exactly!

I was reading up on Flash Gordon on Wikipedia yesterday and they mentioned Flesh Gordon so I looked into that...funny how Craig T. Nelson had a voice cameo in a porno.

Fun film, makes a good double feature with Barbarella!

Of course both were produced by Dino De Laurentiis.

Horrible, horrible, horrible movie. Some of the worst visual effects for that entire era. Mind-numbingly awful in every way.

Sam Jones was interviewed in the last couple of years about his "comeback" in the Ted movies, and he talked quite a bit about how things went completely out of control on Flash Gordon. His interview was ten times more entertaining than the film.
