Got my copy (US) today. Very nicely done all around. Next up: Penguin, Mystery To Me, and Heroes are Hard To Find...please?

Playing my FUTURE GAMES LP from the new box. Dead flat, perfectly quiet.

I'm two for two with this set thus far.

    Nice!

I retract my statement. My U.S. box has a flaw. Future Games side one is pressed off center and has a subtle speed wavering issue.
I emailed Dr Rhino in hopes of replacement. If not it goes back to Oldies.com.

Thank you for putting that comment up.

So, it sounds like the US version is overall very good for most people, but with some (all?) copies having one or more off-center sides, particularly of Future Games.

People who have European copies - again, I ask, how do they sound, etc? Is it worth trying to buy a copy and have it shipped from the UK? Has anybody compared the US to UK versions?

    Thanks!

  9. So exactly how record releases have always been. I worked in record stores though most of the 70s and there were always bad copies here and there but obviously pressings were much larger then. I would assume pressing are better now since the runs are smaller..except when Rainbo had that HUGE Beatles press run last year.

So there are others who have off center pressings of Future Games?

I sent mine back to Rhino and am awaiting a replacement.

yes - mine is slightly off-center with a hint of warpage.

for now yes - I've got a great sounding original press. I wanted this box for great versions of Then Play On and Kiln House - and I consider it mission accomplished. I also think the Bare Trees compares pretty favorably with my old copy.

I will check mine again tomorrow. I didn't notice the only time I played it but I could have missed it. It sounded fine.

I didn't catch it until second play. More noticeable on the last track.

I'll listen with headphones. That might make a difference. The first time I didn't.

You should be able to clearly see that the grooves are off center when the LP is spinning.

Wow, so did Rhino say they would replace that one LP out of the package? Is that true even if you buy from Amazon or from a third party?

    Thanks

OK, thanks. So it sounds like they will replace a defective "Future Games" on a US version. I'm leaning towards getting the US version and being done with it, but again, I ask, has anyone compared the UK and US versions directly? Are they actually pressed at different plants? (I think so from prior comments, but would like to be confirmed.) Does anybody know what plants actually pressed the US versus UK versions?

    Thanks again

I doubt anyone bought two sets but on this forum anything is possible.

I suspect you are right, but I ask in case someone did and can comment.

I think the set sounds so good I am heavily considering getting the EU set as a backup.
