I posted this in Lindsey suit thread probably should've posted here but thought the thread had gotten inactive. Solid performance, Neil getting more comfortable. But how many people are on stage? :)

OPTION C: Mick could have tried to broker a truce between SN and LB. For leverage he could have said he and the rest of the group will only tour if the two of them make peace.

We don't know what discussions he had with Stevie Nicks before Buckingham got the news ("second hand" from Azoff). The band/brand is pretty dependent on Nicks, and if she was that determined ...

Yeah, she has a commercially viable solo career to fall back on.

If you mean a "solo concert career" to fall back on, sure. However if you mean a "making solo albums career" to fall back on - I dunno. I guess it depends on if there are any more 40+ year old demos of her abandoned/discarded/long forgotten/unreleased songs left on youtube, or if she has used them all up by now.

Until I get any indication/evidence to the contrary I have to *strongly* assume she's dried up as a writer - though claiming Lindsey is the real reason she doesn't want to record any new music does make for a very convenient excuse.

And ooof that outro solo is still hella messy! Wow, that kind of suprised me, it sounded off, like he was really feeling the idea of shredding on D minor but got sticky fingers at a couple parts and some of his licks felt weirdly placed

Not to get "Team LB" on everything, but he always kept that part simple with a solid but straight forward motif that was sparse but very effective.

Has Stevie learned the words to "Freefallin" yet? That would be a bonus.

Bwahahaha, Stevie would've said "okay then" and hung up.

This was about a Fleetwood Mac tour. And If they didn’t fire Lindsey she could do solo tours and be fine.

Yep. Sounded good too, with solid harmony vocals from Stevie.

But what you've described here is a slightly different greatest hits tour, with some even older songs and a couple of hits by other bands...

If FM had released a new album of material as per the wishes of 4 out of 5 members, they would have had some new stuff to play.

Yes, but that wouldn’ have been a 50th anniversary celebration, would it?

Why not? The Beach Boys, for example, played new material for their 50th.

Well, it's certainly not a 50th Anniversary tour if they're playing Split Enz and Tom Petty songs... ;)

Saw Lindsey last night in Boulder, great show and he is a still a great guitarist with a very unique style. I have no dog in the fight and wish them all the best, but I couldn't help but thinking what huge hole his departure leaves in this band.

I'd like to hear someone who doesn't know Neil Finn from Ozzy.
A lot of people here (myself included) know Neil's work very well, even if it's only from Crowded House. No way I could listen to him doing a Mac song and not think 'It's Neil, it's Crowded House"
Does anyone who is unfamiliar have an opinion?

Outside of the two songs of his he played that I already knew, I have no knowledge of his work.

In my opinion the dynamic has totally shifted to solely on Stevie Nicks. Neil is a good enough stand in for the vocals. Honestly I thought Mike Campbell was the one that did not fit on stage with the others.

As good as I thought Neil was, he seemed like just a guy on stage filling a need. Outside of his two songs, hearing him play the few LB songs didn't really bring much joy to me. At that point it's basically just a cover of an LB song, right?

As for Christine. I was really excited to see her as I never have before and I always liked her songs probably collectively more than the other two. The crowd just didn't seem that into her. She hasn't built up that manic fan base that Stevie has.

I didn't see the crowd in to Neil Finn either like they were with Stevie.

So . . . it's Stevie's band now in my mind. Everyone else is just along for the ride.

As for thoughts of a new studio album, it would be interesting to hear Finn's new dynamic in the songwriting. I can see him getting along with Christine though more as a songwriter/collaborator.

I'm pretty sure that wildstar was commenting on how you chose to name the two Finn songs, "I Got You" and "Don't Dream It's Over" .
