I'm a Turtles fan, but had no idea that Flo and Eddie appeared on so many songs by other artists...
According to wikipedia, some of these backing vocals occured on songs by John Lennon, Blondie, Bruce Springsteen, the Ramones, Sammy Hagar, Roger McGuinn, etc...
I know Flo and Eddie were on Hungry Heart by Bruce Springsteen. What are some other songs...

They notably appeared on several T. Rex albums, including "Electric Warrior," "The Slider" and I believe "Tanx" too -- I'm probably missing a few. That's them singing high harmony on "Get It On (Bang A Gong)," "Jeepster," "Telegram Sam" and most of his other big hits.

I don't believe they appeared on T.Rex's Tanx, but they were on the self-titled T.Rex album, with "Ride A White Swan" and " Beltane Walk".

They were with Frank Zappa from 1970-1971. In matter in fact, he named them "Flo and Eddie"

I'm not sure about this, but I do know that on their first release, they were known as The Phluorescent Leech and Eddie. So "Flo" was a shortening of this.

Volman & Kaylan were somehow involved with the classic 80's Zucker brothers Spy send up film "Top Secret" soundtrack. Their name is on the LP.

They also sang backup on "Radiating Love" on 1981's Round Trip by The Knack.

The reason that Volman & Kaylan had to use the names Flo & Eddie is due to the Turtles' contract with White Whale that gave the label control over the use of not only the band's name but also the names of individual members of the group. Therefore during their tenure in the Mothers, they were redubbed The Phlorescent Leech and Eddie, taking their new stage names from two of Zappa's more colorful roadies.

I remember seeing Flo and Eddie open for the Monkees in 1996. That was when I first started to be a fan, but I remember wondering why they were called Flo and Eddie when their names are Howard and Mark.

I saw them play live once also at one of my first concerts - an all day festival type thing with about 6 other bands (Dave Mason headlining perhaps???) here at Cincinnati Gardens.

Aynsley Dunbar was their drummer. I literally bumped into him in the hall. He was dressed in full English Rock Star regalia - red velvet jacket, groovy shag haircut, very handsome - he cut quite a figure. That type of attire has an entirely different effect when you see someone dressed like that outside of a bathroom in a sports arena rather than on stage. Everyone else in the place was wearing jeans and flannel. He was a very impressive drummer also.

I pulled out their first album recently - it wasn't awful..... They did/do have fantastic voices. I've always especially loved what they added to Electric Warrior.

    They also appeared on:

    - Keith Moon's solo album

    - Ray Manzarek's "The Whole Thing Started With Rock And Roll"

both of which are dross, unfortunately.

    ----

For me, the greatest voice in rock was Howard Kaylan; and on "Just another Band from L.A.", he and Mark delivered the two greatest vocal performances in rock.

it's looks like they put that Lennon LP on their to make their resume look better, the side they are on is actually just John and Yoko guesting with the Mothers of Invention...

How ironic this thread is. I just listened to Flo & Eddie's "An Evening In Detroit" album last night. Brilliant stuff.
