I run this combo of table and cart and I'm curious to see if my arm height setting seems correct to you. As you know, the arm height adjustment with this table is based on the height of the cartridge (distance from bottom of the mounting headstock to the tip of the stylus) in millimeters. Then from that you dial in the height using the arm height adjustment ring. I couldn't find any published value for the height of the Shure V15VxMR. By my measurements (and it's kind of hard to measure accurately), it comes out at around 18 mm tall, which would correspond to an arm height ring adjustment value of 3. To my ears that sounds a trifle too bright and harsh, so I dial back to 2.5 or 2.75 (I'm still trying to decide which of these I like better on average) and that sounds better. So questions: 1) Is there any published/official cartridge height value published by Shure for the V15VxMR? 2) Where do other folks using this cart with the Technics set arm height? What I'm looking for here is the setting you use with regular thickness LPs, primarily. I've found that once you get that worked out you can calculate up for arm height adjustments to compensate for the additional thickness of 180 g pressings pretty readily.
