For some reason, seeing BARRY GIBB on Saturday Night Live last night made my week..

I don't know either, been reading a lot of strange posts here lately. I figure people are celebrating and posting alternately.

Boyfriend. Sorry. Should have specified. He is a member and that is his username. I tried to do the tag thing I've seen others do and it didn't work.

I had never seen any of these Barry Gibb show SNL skits before until I read this thread. I clicked on the link and watched the video. I was thinking about that video while lifting weights at the gym today and started cracking up over Barry's crazed outbursts. My workout partner was wondering what the hell I was laughing about.

The Barry imitation has diverged into almost NOTHING BUT those crazed outbursts. If you look back at the earlier incarnations, there's a lot more low-quivering talk with smaller high-pitch outbursts and only an occasional crazed outburst. To me, that was MUCH funnier.

Found the video for the complete sketch.

Madonna, while once a brilliant and interesting entertainer, is today both scary looking and soooooooooooo yesterday, IMO!

Yeah, the first one is still the best.

Why is it strange? It's just a sketch. Barry seemed to enjoy it...

It's odd because it freezes the skit in time between 2003 and 2013, although they both are wearing the white suits from 1979.

It doesn't really bother me ... I just found it disconcertingly odd.

And the skit is played out, anyway. It was loud and unfunny.

Quite a change from a couple interview walk outs in the late 80's.

 You're overthinking it. Again, it's just a sketch.

I adore Madonna but thought she was out of place in the skit. She wasn't funny and I couldn't figure out why she was there...

If you watch Barry and Robin's appearance on Jimmy Fallon to promote the "Mythology" box, it's obvious that both of them approved of the sketch (Robin even discusses Justin's near-mute version of him). So knowing that, I understand why Robin stayed intact.

There's a clip on YouTube of Barry actually introducing himself as "Barry F'n Gibb" on someone's answering machine, and talking throughout the message in Jimmy Fallon's style, complete with random falsetto screams.

Do you have the link to that? I tried to find it via a few search options but couldn't locate it...

What, the Jimmy Fallon interview? No, I downloaded the episode after it aired.

Spooled up Sgt. pepper last night on Netflix. A pretty bad movie, but certainly catches some of the cheesy aspects of the late 1970's. EWF, Aerosmith and Billy Preston turn in some good performances. And Barry Gibb..lookin' cool, handsome, even in this movie..my wife definitely noticed!

I figured she was probably hanging out with Timberlake in NYC and got roped into the sketch.
