Listened to my original 1969 U.K. Abbey Road (maybe '70... no "Her Majesty" credit) last night. First, I have to say... everytime I listen to side two it's like hearing it for the first time. Golden Slumbers slays me. Maybe it's because the medleys haven't been played to death (or much at all) on classic rock radio. Then an observation... it's pretty bass heavy on original U.K. vinyl. More so than my 1987 CD release. Anyone else here with benefit of comparison? Is it possible the "bass heavy" complaints come from those unfamiliar with the original U.K. vinyl release (I have not heard the american vinyl pressings, or even later pressings). While listening to an original VG+ vinyl of Abbey Road is a euphoric experience, I have to say I'm pretty pleased with what the remaster brings to the table. Seems fairly loyal to the original mix... at least what I'm hearing on my system. Thoughts?
