The late, great Robert Hazard and The Heroes Escalator of Life Unfortunately I can't find the super cheesy original video.
Didn't read all 61 pages, but "Precious To Me" by Phil Seymour is one that comes to my mind. Never hear this on oldies radio.
Hey, does anybody remember a song called "What I Like About You" by The Romantics? Don't feel bad, most people have never heard of it. Another song that you never hear anymore is one called "Walking on Sunshine." Anyone remember that one? I figured this would be the kind of "insider" crowd that would know a song like that. Ringing any bells?
I think both of those are a lot more well known than you realize, especially to anyone over the age of 40.
How about Falling In Love by Randy Newman, or anything by Randy Newman? Randy Newman - Falling in Love (Official Video)
I would have figured a Seinfeld fan more capable of picking up on obvious sarcasm. And you want to be my latex salesman...
I saw that tour as well, but it was a smaller club date with The Cult headlining and Divinyls opening (touring their excellent What A Life! album). Both bands were great; during the Divinyls set, Chrissie Amphlett took a purse from a girl and started going through it on stage. She told the girl to come up and get it, but once she did, the girl just made a beeline for Mark McEntee and just started trying to kiss him. Chrissie was calling out to her as she pulled things out of the purse - "E're, do you want yer Cult t-shirt??" Sorry to derail the thread with a story! Here, a video to add:
I don't think this is even the kind of thing I would normally like, but it's quite remarkable - From their first LP, Throwing Muses, Hate My Way:
I'm approaching age 50. I definitely know and own both of those songs. They were in heavy rotation on LA radio back in the day.
Not sure if this one was mentioned earlier. Anyway, another of my few favourites. The ''single'' version as the original was twelve minutes long.
