I wonder if such a thing would still be good? It's been in a sealed baggie.

Nineteen years ago is 1998, for you math majors. Mail-ordering a replacement belt, you're as likely to get something that's been on the shelf that long.

If you're still on your original belt, it's still going to be at least that good, and I'd just hang onto the spare until you actually need it, storing it somewhere cool (don't be clever and tape it to the bottom of the turntable).

Try it. Some rubber lasts, some disintegrates.

Check the speed stability of your current belt then replace with this one and check again. You can download a TT speed calculator for your mobile if you lack one.

Good news and bad news. The old and unused belt spun the same - at 33.0. I also had gotten an lpgear replacement belt; that one fluctuated between 32.7 and 32.8.:sweating:

You have to be careful with replacement belts that are not OEM. There have been quite a few negative comments. I am not familiar with the various makes so can't advise particulars.

I kinda forgot I made this thread. Anyway, Pro-Ject belt = 33.3. Feels like finding some C-Notes in a jeans pocket.
