Yes. And if we get one for my baby and one more for the road we've got 7:1!

  2. No, it makes it five times more likely that no one will listen! ;)

Ordered the mono on Discogs yesterday. Still waiting for a response from the seller.

I don't think I've ever heard this album in stereo. Does it have hard panning or is it natural room stereo?

There is no hard panning, at least not on my copy.

So the instruments are heard in natural, ambient room stereo?

Correction. Jobim's vocals are panned to the left.....

THE MSFL reissue of For Only the Lonely was mono.

Of course there have been many Capitol mono reissues. The quoted comment applied to a question about the thread subject specifically and to Reprise albums in general.

Finally got a mono copy today. Unfortunately it is a bit noisy. It cleared up a bit with a cleaning. My stereo copy is pristine compared to this one. Not sure if I have the ears to tell if I notice any difference between the 2 formats. Time will tell.

The mono LP was mixed from the same four-track session tapes as the stereo LP. The difference between the two formats may not be as noticeable as other dedicated mono recordings. The big difference will be in comparison to the many stereo remixes (i.e., no "ching-chings").

I hate to jump on an old post, but what’s wrong with the UK mono pressing of this LP? I picked one up yesterday for £3, so I hope it’s not a fold. I know my Self Titled reprise LP isn’t.

I know, I was going to say to a previous post, there IS a UK mono LP of this title, not sure why he thought there wasn't...

  19. Whether there is or isn't a UK mono finding one online isn't particularly easy. On Discogs it's relatively easy to find a US copy but quite apart from the usual risks over condition, the costs of importing are too high for one record.

I'm also looking for a NM copy with a sleeve, not some scratched or abused copy with writing on the sleeve or labels.
