So, INA-GRM have just issued a huge and inexpensive 15CD box set of his stuff and this seems like the most optimal point to jump in the pool. Anyone able to guide me through the murky waters of his discography? As I understand it, most of the CDs issued in the 80s contain altered versions of his 60s and 70s albums and the new box set muddies the waters even further by including third versions - either new edited versions or alternate mixes or even possible entirely new recordings.

Once I get the box, what earlier LPs and CDs do I still need to get? Is there anything outside the purview of the INA that's considered essential? Are there any temporal patterns I need to be aware of? (i.e. is his early stuff more experimental than his later mainstream stuff, or vice versa? or was there only a narrow window when he was cool? or was he never cool?)
