Yeah, tell me about it. Since then, we learned that FSE wanted to release a box set of Frank’s recordings with small combos and “the powers that be” turned them down. That was crushing news to me. I am still lobbying for a complete Nelson Riddle collection. Self explanatory. But I want to believe that there’s enough unreleased studio material to compliment such a set including studio patter and pre-recorded orchestrations as well. It could be marvelous. Secondly. A complete Sinatra-Basie at the Sands collection. Every single recorded Sinatra-Basie date. I’ll end with a Complete Perfectly Frank set. I could go on. -Robert
It really does. I’m sure @Bob F remembers more of the details than I do. It’s depressing to think about.
I know there’s a lot of griping about the lack of product, especially for the 100th, but looking at my shelves we got a cool radio shows show from Sony, the retirement box, London, the Ultimate box and cd for newbies, some cds like Tina’s comp, and now Standing Room Only. As I’m not an lp person, seems a lot of lps. Seems like Sinatra fans did alright the last few years.
Hey Frankfan1, I know it may seem like I’m complaining but I’m not. I am so thankful for every release we get. We are very forunate that we’ve been getting such wonderful products for a number of years now. You’re 100% correct. -Robert
I’ve found using google and ending the search que with “Hoffman” works better. In other words, search : Sinatra Sands Hoffman on google... etc
More precise: Include the search term “site:stevehoffman.tv” to restrict Google’s search to this website.
I didn't know that either - thanks. Do you know if there's a way to do the opposite - i.e. do a search and exclude a site?
This is a Boolean Operator, I use these with my job. It’s actually really easy. Bob mentioned the site: to search a specific site. To exclude one just add a - to it, so if to wanted to search for Frank Sinatra but exclude Amazon it would look like “-site:amazon.com” Here is an example of a search that you could do: site:forums.stevehoffman.tv “frank Sinatra” reprise mono (lp OR “long player” OR 12 OR record) This is just something I threw together, no idea what it would pull up but in reality you should all mentions of Sinatra mono on Reprise where those search words are mentioned. On the flip side you’re looking for reviews of a Sinatra release but you want to avoid amazon and allmusic.com it could be something like: -site:Amazon.com -allmusic.com “frank sinatra” (review OR reviews) “in the wee small hours”
Sure: Precede with a dash. E.g. “-site:stevehoffman.tv” will exclude this website. Edit: Didn’t see @Benno123’s reply before posting.
Except for in my post the “allmusic.com” part should say “-site:allmusic.com” Boolean is great for searching out collectibles, and travel deals (!!!), but it is easier to type out on a laptop instead of a phone like I am using! If you play around with it you will be surprised at what you can find out on the interwebs in regards to Sinatra!
Back on topic… Confirmed by AndrewT at the SFF (where photos of the new Japan set are shown): “The DVD is All Regions, NTSC and plays fine in a Region 1 DVD player. Video and audio quality are excellent.”
We are now almost half way through 2018 and still no vinyl reisse of "Only The Lonely". Would nice to have an anniversary package !
Here’s an idea that I believe it’s also the 30th anniversary of the Ultimate Event, with Frank, Sammy, and Liza! I’d love to see that released as well. The VHS will have to do for now.
