I am new to this forum, but have been respectfully reading the various
new and backdated posts regarding the Frank Sinatra CD remasters from
The Steve Hoffman Forum, Sinatra Family Forum and amazon.com reviews.
To say the least there seems to much disappointment in the remastering
of Sinatra's work done by Capitol.

I would like to start off by qualifying that my primary musical interests are real Jazz. I also am of the opinion that both Nat KIng Cole and Frank Sinatra were the two major Jazz Vocal Standouts from the Jazz golden
years of the Mid to late 50's.

It is perplexing that the fidelity on Jazz CD's in general is vastly superior to most of the other genres' of music.

Capitol Jazz which If I'm not mistaken was an affiliate of Capitol records
is now published under the Blue Note Label.

There is a remastering process that I have seen over the past 6 years known as super-bit mapping. Verve uses it, Blue Note Record uses it
and Fantasy Records as well, along with a process called K2 which is Similarto the XRCD format.

Backing up a second to Capitol Jazz, I want discuss the Nat KIng Cole Trio
Album called"After Midnight" (the complete session) that was remastered in 1999 by Ron MCmaster at Capitol Jazz in 20-bit super bit mapping. This release can be purchased in most Records Stores and I highly recommend it for those interested in Nat. The price of the CD is roughly $13 and is a study in how to mass produce a remaster CD with stunning results.

Most of my CD collection consists of only quality remasters done within the
    last 8 years.

I recently splurged and purchase a few of the DCC remasters.

"Nat King Coles Greatest Hits'' - This is one of my all time favorites
"Robin and the Seven Hoods"- My first DCC purchase out of curiosity.
"Frank Sinatra's 57 Concert" - I purchased recently as a result of my utter
frustration with the quality of the Capitol remasters of Franks work.

DCC has done a great job of remastering all three of those titles.

I also purchased the MFSL "Songs for Swingin' Lovers" UDII which is just
    OK.

I am very serious about contacting Capitol records regarding the sub par
remastering of Frank Sinatra's work from the 50's era. Does anyone else have an idea on how to best approach the record company. Surely if Capitol
doesn't have the Right engineers then maybe Capitol Jazz could hire out
Ron McMAster to remaster the SInatra Work for them.

In the meantime, if anyone has knowledge as to where I could aquire
the best sounding CD remaster of Franks first 4 CApitol records, please
    share this info.

    Very truly yours,

Best Regards for a Happy 4th of July
