see, this is an example of how it's hard for me to follow this thread - I don't know many of the things quoted because I loved the Simpsons early on,
but by around '97-'98 I felt it had gotten REALLY bad, and by 1999-2000 it was just pure garbage.
I loved the early episodes, I have the first four seasons on DVD. I should try watching one again sometime.
So sad to see what it turned into.
The show should have been killed off 20 years ago.

To you, and all the other people who keep saying, "It's been sucky since 'blah, blah,blah...'",
You're REALLY missing a couple of true gems!
Like McCartney albums, there's some gold in that crap..... you just gotta be patient.
Some eps. have gotten better with age.... some still suck...
    I'll keep watching...

Why do so many people want bands/TV shows/movies not to exist just because they don't like those bands/TV shows/movies?

My favorite Simpsons is the footage they show while waiting in queue for the Simpson ride at Universal in Orlando. Really funny how they poke fun at the whole greedy side of amusement parks while you wait in line... It's so ironic and Krusty is great.

It's something to do. You can thank the message board culture for that.

So I guess that a couple days ago was the 30th anniversary of The Simpsons debut.

This one, IN CONTEXT, along with the ending on that segment killed me.

I laughed uncontrollably for at least 45 seconds. Like was no in control of my body.

Note: The video embedded first 13 seconds is the clip. Someone on Youtube repeated it with slowed down sound for the rest of the clip.

The episode where Homer works two jobs so Lisa can have a pony

Lisa - Mom you're going to tell me I have to give up the pony.

Marge - Well Lisa. That's just something you're going to have to decide for yourself.

Lisa - All my life I've lobbied to be treated like an adult and now it's blown up in my face.

    Priceless.

It's all in the Bible, son. It's the prankster's Bible.
The best part of that scene is when Burns and Smithers fall off the ceiling, and Burns dusts himself off and says 'good day to you' and they walk out.

  17. (From memory) Indian convenience store guy (not Apu) illegally sells super firecrackers to Homer for the 4th of July, with that pitch (heavy Indian accent): "Celebrate the independence of your country by blowing up a small part of it!"

One of the best one-liners from any show, ever!..

Wish I had a link to the episode, but there was a small bit on last night's episode that made me laugh out loud. I hadn't done that in a long time while watching the Simpsons.

I will describe it (can't remember the exact lines.) It was an exchange between Homer and Apu. Homer and Lisa were playing some type of GPS internet Pokemon game where you compete to find the location of certain "creatures" before other people do. One location happened to be Apu's store. The creature that appeared on Homer's hand held device was a dancing pink elephant and Homer said to Apu something like "This looks like one of your Gods" and without hesitation, Apu comes back and points to some bearded, long-haired, homeless, drunk guy lying in the street and said something similar back to Homer.

I used to work at a place where that was a kind of catchphrase (as were a number of other Simpsons quotes).

One day one guy, a vegetarian, had us in stitches when he said, "I believe I can make friends with salad". :biglaugh:

And scarily accurate. Luckily there are very few people like that in my neck of the woods. But I hope the trend dies out. College Institutions are places of learning and exploring ideas and are no place for 'Safe Space' and 'Micro Agression' bs. Go back to Kindergarten if you want that.
