Good or bad for home audio surge/conditioning?

Sorry, no personal experience but I've heard good things about Furman products over the years.

I use one. While I didn’t notice any audible improvement, it is a clean and well built power strip

They are good. I purchase a Furman Elite recondition from Amazon for a really good price. My preference for the models similar to what you are looking at are for the 20 amp version.

Has to be better than the generic strip I'm using. As long as no one thinks it has a negative effect on the sound, think I'll get it.

I don’t run my power amp through it, but everything else is. No negative effects

    Why not the amp?

I have all later model furmans. They have no sound degradation problems that I can tell.
    The one's I use are the pl-pus, ps-8 and ar-pro.

The ar-pro's are the best ones of the bunch. They'll give you up to 30 amps of service for your amplifiers.
The others have the same conditioning minus the regulation benefits of the pro but are only rated for 20 amps.

The customer reviews on this model are very good.

Doctor Fine "So Hip It Would Blister Your Brain"

These are fine for what they do.
They provide 8 power outlets that all share a common ground---so less chance of ground loops if everything in your system is plugged into this one device.
This is designed to keep a bad power surge from blowing out your gear, which is useful for insurance.
This has some minimal filtration aimed (one supposes) at keeping some electrical noise out of your amplification chain.

This cheap strip does NOTHING to stabilize voltage fluctuation---THAT takes more bucks.
This does NOT rebuild the line output into a re-rectified clean "virgin" power source---again that takes a lot mure bucks to achieve.

    So---what IS it?
    An inexpensive surge limiter.
A little bit of noise filter.
A nice central grounding point for your rack gear.
Decent female plugs that grip your equipment plugs tightly for solid connection.

I personally own six similar Furman strips---most with voltage readout which I find handy.
I use them in each install I do.
    They are useful as heck.
    That's about it.
    My two cents.

Think I'm grabbing one today. I have a phono buzz that I hope it eliminates.

For home theater/music I’ve had very good real world results with the power factor technology.

I am just wondering, is it worth upgrading to the reference series if I already have one elite 15 power factor tech? It’s like over 3 times the weight, over 3 times the price, yet on paper they both do almost the same thing.. except the reference handles 55amps of instant current and 4.5 amps on continuous reserve versus the regular elite is 45amps of instant current and 3.5 amps of continuous current.

Anyone got any real world experience with the furman reference 15i?

    No, none whatsoever.

But I'm planning on purchasing Ref 20. My Elite 20 works great, so the "Reference" must be better right? I'll be bird-dogging Amazon for a refurbished one though.

This has a 15 amp rating. Will it handle a Rogue cronus Magnum amp, Jolida phono stage, Oppo 93, Plasma TV, cable box, 5.1 AVR and my Music Hall turntable motor?

Add up the (Max) current draw for those items to be sure. If you what you have now doesn't trip the breaker then you should be fine. I'm guessing that you have everything plugged in to a 15amp circuit.

Yeah it's never tripped the circuit before. The only thing I'm adding is the TT motor.

Later I will add a Jolida Foz SSX.

I've got one (next model up with the lights on front). No issues. It does have some RF noise filters too which is nice for the price point. It does not have dedicated outlets for amplifiers though and thus no delayed turn on for amp outlets. Just some wider spacing for wall warts on one side. It is really designed for musical instrument racks.

I assume it's ok to turn it upside down if I need to?

I'll turn the amp, phono and oppo on only an hour before I listen.

Major leap. TV picture and surround system big improvement. 2 channel system richer and fuller. Lower noise floor. I had a cheapo Phillips strip in there that wasn't doing the job at all.

I did a quick search and found this thread. You are still using the same one?

I have the Furman M-8X2 and have not been plugging my TV and Roku box to it. I did that yesterday and immediately I noticed better YouTube video sound via Roku.

I am getting the Elite 15 pfi soon to see if that power factor thing would help my high wattage subs.

I have everything plugged into it except my power amp. I was concerned too much current draw. Got an Audience Forte power cord for the amp and straight into the wall.

Yes I still have it and it's still doing the job. Great bang for the buck.
