Or PST-8D. I've been using a cheap power strip/surge protector to plug my gear into. Would this unit offer anything in the way of cleaner power/sonic improvements or is it just a better quality surge protector

Did you notice any improvements in sound or reduction in noise w the P5?

I had a PST-8D for awhile in my setup. Pretty good surge protector but I don't recommend you plug your amplifier into it. I used mine for source components and plugged my integrated amplifier directly to my wall outlet. I never heard a difference in sound using it.

I've been using a PL-plus for years now. I can't say whether it affects the sonics of my system as it's been in use so long. I also don't plug my amp in to it.

My only complaint is that the power cord is too long. One of these days I'll shorten it.
