I found their approach on that kind of strange as there were more studio alternate takes that could have been included as well the rest of the Roundhouse show. I was rather surprised that they decided to split the difference and have half alternate versions and half live material. In addition, most of the time when groups add live material as bonus content they try to add live version of songs from the album but Roundhouse tracks were not which was a different approach. My guess is they thought people might not like it if both studio alternate takes and live versions of some of the same songs were included.
Someone posted the Japansese SHM-CD track list over at IORR. If correct, it looks like the cd will contain the exact same songs as on the dvd so no songs will be left out and no bonus tracks will be added.
This is sort of what I thought. Did anyone really think they were going to go the extra mile and add extra tracks? These are simply re-releasing what they've already got.
I am sitting this out. I'll listen to the DVDs with the TV off, as I do now when I'm not in the mood to view a video. I'm tired of laying out money for content I already own.
I am interested to know if they will try to do anything with the sound for the cd release or if it will be a straight transfer. I'm not sure if the SHM-CD would improve it or not.
The rip I did of Ladies and Gentlemen Blu-Ray sounds pretty good. Chances are the Masher will have a hand in the mastering, and we're going to get a healthy DR value of 6!!!!
Is it possible that they reproduce the same tracklist due to copiright? I mean look at led zeppelin song remains the same...he could not alter visuals of the original film....just asking
It's possible. I think the reason some are asking is that they actually deleted tracks on the cd that was included in the earlier Checkerboard Lounge combination set.
That's what I was expecting. I'm just happy it's getting the release it should have got when the DVD/Blu-ray came out. The only worry is the mastering. That's what I'm afraid of. Did he do the audio for the Blu-ray?
Hi John; There will be no bonus tracks this time (Sad) Personally I don't see interest in buying the Deluxe Set. For those interested in the cd can be an interesting purchase. I have the Japanese Blu-Ray and for this time I think maybe I'll buy it (the cd) Ladies and Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Edition] The Rolling Stones CD Album I managed to extract the audio from the blu-ray and make my own cd, (I maybe replace it with this new Japanese release) The Japanese edition (VQBD-10105) made in 2012 is still available and contains the full audio on 2 CDs. I bought it that same year and it's really nice set. Here is the link of cdjapan and the set list of both cds Live At The Checkerboard Lounge Chicago 1981 [w/ 2CD, Limited Edition] Muddy Waters & The Rolling Stones DVD
Unrelated question, but looking at some of my Japanese SHM SACDs that most of us know and love the other night, I noticed the "Mashers" name listed in the mastering credits. Did he really work on those? If so, I guess like a lot of people have said he simply does what he's paid to do. Mark
I've been watching on Amazon the upcoming release of "Muddy Waters & The Rolling Stones Live At The Checkerboard Lounge, Chicago 1981" It appears as a single a cd and this makes me suspect that it will not include the complete show. The same cd ? again ? For comparative purposes I put here the audio content of the CD included in the set of Eagle Rock Entertainment (2012 release) and the audio content of the Japanese set with 2 cd of the same year (VQBD-10105) Japanese Set DISC 1 1) YOU`RE GONNA MISS ME WHEN I`M GONE 2) SWEET LITTLE ANGEL 3) FLIP FLOP AND FLY 4) YOU DON`T HAVE TO GO 5) COUNTRY BOY 6) I`M A KING BEE 7) TROUBLE NO MORE 8) COUNTY JAIL 9) BABY PLEASE DON`T GO 10) HOOCHIE COOCHIE MAN DISC 2 1) LONG DISTANCE CALL 2) MANNISH BOY 3) GOT MY MOJO WORKIN` 4) NEXT TIME YOU SEE ME 5) ONE EYED WOMAN 6) BABY PLEASE DON`T GO 7) CLOUDS IN MY HEART 8) CHAMPAGNE AND REEFER 9) INSTRUMENTAL 1 10) INSTRUMENTAL 2 US Set 1) Sweet Little Angel 2) Flip Flop And Fly 3) Muddy Waters Introduction 4) You Don t Have To Go 5) Country Boy 6) Baby Please Don't Go 7) Hoochie Coochie Man 8) Long Distance Call 9) Mannish Boy 10) Got My Mojo Working 11) Next Time You See Me 12) One Eyed Woman 13) Baby Please Don't Go (Instrumental) 14) Blow Wind Blow 15) Champagne & Reefer Everyone draw their conclusions ...
Firstly, I wonder what the two instrumental tracks are from disc 2. Secondly, that's not the US CD track listing. The CD does not include Sweet Little Angel, Flip Flop And Fly, Country Boy, or Baby Please Don't Go (Instrumental) Muddy Waters & The Rolling Stones - Checkerboard Lounge, Live Chicago 1981
Was thinking the same as I read it. Guess we'll have to wait for a track listing for the slated US CD.
OOOPS! Is the content of the DVD OK, CORRECTED: My apologies ! US release (2012) Introductions - 1:44 You Don't Have to Go Baby Please Don't Go Hoochie Coochie Man Long Distance Call Mannish Boy - 10:25 Got My Mojo Workin' Next Time You See Me One Eyed Woman Clouds in My Heart Champagne and Reefer JAPAN release (2012) DISC 1 1) YOU`RE GONNA MISS ME WHEN I`M GONE 2) SWEET LITTLE ANGEL 3) FLIP FLOP AND FLY 4) YOU DON`T HAVE TO GO 5) COUNTRY BOY 6) I`M A KING BEE 7) TROUBLE NO MORE 8) COUNTY JAIL 9) BABY PLEASE DON`T GO 10) HOOCHIE COOCHIE MAN DISC 2 1) LONG DISTANCE CALL 2) MANNISH BOY 3) GOT MY MOJO WORKIN` 4) NEXT TIME YOU SEE ME 5) ONE EYED WOMAN 6) BABY PLEASE DON`T GO 7) CLOUDS IN MY HEART 8) CHAMPAGNE AND REEFER 9) INSTRUMENTAL 1 10) INSTRUMENTAL 2 DVD CONTENT (for both releases) 1) Sweet Little Angel 2) Flip Flop And Fly 3) Muddy Waters Introduction 4) You Don t Have To Go 5) Country Boy 6) Baby Please Don't Go 7) Hoochie Coochie Man 8) Long Distance Call 9) Mannish Boy 10) Got My Mojo Working 11) Next Time You See Me 12) One Eyed Woman 13) Baby Please Don't Go (Instrumental) 14) Blow Wind Blow 15) Champagne & Reefer The Japanese DVD includes as bonus Black Limousine (from Hampton concert 1981) Maybe they are considering including these songs that you mention ... Regarding the instrumentals: Both are indicated in the set list only as instrumental, without specific name or another information. Both exclusive to the Japanese edition. (I have this version) Both seem to be improvisations, The first is only 3:04 min and the second is 4; 23 min.
It is the recording of the complete show, including the performance of Muddy Waters' band without the Rolling Stones, So these additional songs are played by Muddy's band
One of the forum members over at IORR with knowledge of the From The Vault releases posted this on the forum. I believe he has also worked on some of the releases. "I recently made a proposal to the "from the vaults series" people and the Stones to release the "lost Live Album" from master tapes I have or from what the Stones may have. I also want to include Stevie Wonder's performance as originally planned. Also to have the planned original cover. I have also offered them very rare concert footage that me and an associate have from the 72 tour from Philadelphia & Pittsburgh with sound that fans have never seen (or has not been circulated as far as I know) to go as a bonus DVD along with a couple other oddities." This would be cool.
