    Hi,

This is taken directly from a thread in the Classifieds forum that wasn't answered.

I've always wondered - What's the difference between Jazz-Mysticism-Exotica and Bacchanal (both of which were SH DCC discs, right?)???? I'd like to know, as a Gabor Szabo fan who does not yet have those...

They have the same track listing (unless some website was wrong - can't remember which one).

Steve, can you comment? Anyone else? What's the deal?

    Thanks!

Ahhh! I guess my source was wrong (or my memory).

I had not heard of Jazz-Mysticism-Exotica before I was aware of the DCC's existence, but I am more familiar with Bacchanal's material. So, when was Jazz-Mysticism-Exotica's first appearance, and what's the story with the apparently overlapping material (different versions/mixes/takes somehow, or what?)?

Hmmm... (trying not to look like a complete fool here) Anyway, that's good - more music done by Steve to collect.

    Thanks
    Robert

I'm happy that I stumbled on this thread as I've been thinking of GZ myself lately. Why is his Impulse catalog virtually nonexistent here in the states?

One of my favorite albums is The Best of Gabor Szabo. I haven't heard much else, so am not sure I want to shell out import prices for the Japanese versions (plus even Seattle's best b&m stores don't carry them, so I'd have to send away).

I have the following DCC releases:
    DCC DJZ-637 1999 CD Szabo, Gabor 1969
DCC DJZ-617 1990 CD Szabo, Gabor Bacchanal
DCC DJZ-605 CD Szabo, Gabor Jazz-Mysticism-Exotica
DCC DJZ-607 1990 CD Horne, Lena & Szabo, Gabor Watch What Happens!

I enjoy them...1969 doesn't sound up to par though???

I listened to Bacchanal and 1969 again and compared them to the 1990 Jazz-Mysticism-Exotica it blew them away. Great smooth, wonderful sound. What gives Steve? Why are those 2 CD's so harsh?
