Has the show caught up with the books yet?

 

Yes, though there were some characters and storylines that the show hasn't even addressed yet. Or even if they will.

 

10 episodes is not enough!
If they wanna kill some time, they could do a 'sit-com'-style 1/2 hour show with Samwell & Gilly
Everyday when he come home from Meister training, he finds Gilly has gotten herself into another mess....!

Another 'in-between' spin-off could be "The Adventures Of Rikon & Osha"!
Traveling 'The North', in search of sustenance & a friendly face.

 

Hopefully Jon Snow will survive in some form.

I fondly remember the days when a 32 episode season was the norm...

 

Well, most of those shows didn't have multiple location shoots throughout the planet at the same time!
We're really watching 10 one-hour big-budget movies, every year...
that's not cheap!

Trailer #2 - EPIC!!!!

 

A one hour 10 episode series on HBO is similar to a 14 or 15 episode series that runs with commercials. Especially when Game of Thrones runs long, as it occasionally does.

But as Vince before me said, the budget for this show is astronomical. Anything longer would cost a mint

 

The new trailer kills me (not in the sense that Game of Thrones routinely kills it's characters, of course).

I'm guessing Cersei will get her revenge this season.

Her revenge? Karma has a lot more crappy things coming her way before she can even entertain the thought of any revenge. She and her family have been doing anything they please since this shows inception.

 

Oh I'm sure she'll have her big come-uppance eventually, but it would just be fan service to continue using her as a punching bag for now, where's the drama in that? To be The Most Hated Woman In The Kingdom she'll have to have power and position. For now.

 

Besides having that 'zombie-Mountain' to do her dirty work for her...
the REAL drama will come from what Jaime decides to do....
it will interesting to see if he finally 'snaps-out-it' and decides he's no longer willing to 'scorch the earth' for her love.

 

While I hate the Lannisters except for Tyrion they've suffered a few casualties themselves, I don't think any family has been spared from death on this show.

 

Agreed. But they are the only family I'm openly rooting for harm. I think I may have cheered when Joffrey died.
