Not sure. That mono mix is on the Jon Savage 1967 comp CD that came out recently. You're lucky to have this! What's on the flip?

Is Yours Is Mine. It looks like the radio station took a pass, because "NO" is written on both sides! Company sleeve is pristine. Now to track down a copy of Why Not Your Baby...

On a side note, I bit the bullet and got a Platinum membership from Sierra despite swearing to myself that I wouldn't. $75 for 8 upcoming releases seemed too good to pass up.

Fingers crossed that this actually pans out...

But is it $75 for all 8? Or is it $75 to get priority access to those titles? I don't think it was actually clear from the email.

I have yet to receive the balance of my order for the Gene Clark set, fyi.

Here's what it says on the Sierra website:

The caveat that I didn't catch earlier is that SACDs and LPs count as 2 selections each. So it's kind of a wash except you get free shipping and the two bonus CDs.

Are people still waiting for their LPs? I picked up my set (#67) at the post office on Friday. I only check the P.O. Box a couple times a week, so it could have arrived before Friday.

I'm still waiting in Montreal, Quebec. I hope you're right E.Jonker, about the coming week, but I'm sure you're speaking about the U.S. Outside the country, I'm sure it will take longer. That's what John said anyway.BTW, I've been waiting 10 months for the vinyl, and DVD.

I'm in Australia. It takes around 10 days to receive mail from the US. I remain hopeful :)

Yeah, I live in eternal hope, too. No Byrds spotted here in Tokyo yet, but it's a long way to fly...
Glad to hear more people in the US are getting their copies.

Have to say, as long as I waited for this, and as much of a GC fan I consider myself, I don't find myself reaching for this one very often. I'm very grateful it's out there, and feel a bit selfish for saying this, considering the work that was put into it.

I want to like it more; had this been pared down to a singles LP based around sides 2 and 3, I doubt it'd ever leave my turntable.

Watched the DVD last night. About a 30-minute interview with pictures interspersed periodically among footage from the interview (it starts with stills, so be patient for the interview footage to appear). Gene is very generous in responding to the questions pretty expansively and is in excellent form, even bemoaning the effects of drugs on some colleagues who were lost too soon. Domenic Priore's questions cover Gene's career pretty thoroughly up to the time of the interview (1986), including the aborted second album, "Back Street Mirror", Flyte and then-recent collaborations with the Long Ryders and Textones (thus pointing the way to Gene's then soon-to-come collaborations with Carla Olson). Priore sticks pretty rigidly to his prepared script of questions, but that script at least tries to hit on most everything.

I think I need to watch The Byrd Who Flew Alone again to see how access to this material might have enhanced that film.
