Equating interest in John Hartford and Gene Clark is pretty questionable. Two different ducks...

Another email today from Mr Delgatto in regards to some shipping issues with the Tut Taylor discs. At the end was this little paragraph -

"In the meantime, I am trying to finish up on the production for the upcoming Gene Clark release on Sierra Records, waiting on some newly
discovered lost Gene Clark recordings with Clarence White that was a "must" to include in this production."

I don't think they were "lost", unfortunately. Could be something unheard of and even better, we'll have to wait and see.

The Echoes/Gosdin Brothers sessions also featured Clarence and relatively few outtakes from those sessions have come to light. Could be that as well. I'd say that any Gene outtakes with Clarence are as likely to date from before he joined the Byrds as from the Roadmaster sessions.

Indeed. It seems unlikely there are Roadmaster outtakes, or they would have used them on the original album instead of those 1970 tracks. My guess is the newly discovered stuff is from 1967.

just received this "priority list" email

    GENE CLARK
    THE LOST STUDIO SESSIONS
    1964 - 1982
    Sierra SACD 2201 (hybrid SACD)
Sierra High Fidelity SHF 2101 (vinyl 2LP)

As a first "teaser" the album will included the only two existing tracks from the original 1967, 8-track, 1" studio master tape recording (the so called "Hugh Masakela" session) of "Don't Let It Fall Through" and "Back Street Mirror" with Leon Russell, Clarence White, Hal Blaine ('The Wrecking Crew') among the studio musicians.

I've somehow fallen off this mailing list.

Anyway: Does anyone want to speculate on what else might appear on this disc?

Possibly there will be demos or even full-on studio takes of the two songs he gave the Rose Garden (Till Today and Long Time). Beyond that, I suspect a lot of it will be stuff we've never heard of before and didn't know existed.

It's quite troubling that Sierra's mailing list has gone for a walk!

There's a general Sierra mailing list and a separate one for the Clark release. Are you on both?

I am not too familiar with Sierra Records. Will we have to order this SACD directly from them or can we expect it to be available through the usual online outlets?

I was on the Clark list too but haven't had an email for many weeks now.

I don't believe there has been one for many weeks. I think the confusion here may be as a result of the fact this email, quoted by Dok below, makes reference to the Clark release, but was appended to an email regarding a Tut Taylor/Clarence White album. So people may be under the impression that they missed this message, when in reality it was not sent to members of the Clark list.

  24. Below is my best guess. I should stipulate that it's my hope the disc will include most or all of these. Of course, it could end up including recordings not mentioned here in place of some that are.

    1964 - Acoustic demos:
    1) 'A Worried Heart'
    2) 'If There’s No Love'
    3) 'I’d Feel Better'
    4) 'That Girl'
    5) 'The Way I Am'
    6) 'Why Can’t I Have Her Back Again'
    7) 'All For Him'

1967 - The 'Hugh Masakela' session:
    8) 'Back Street Mirror'
    9) 'Don't Let It Fall Through'

1967 - Gene Clark Sings For You:
    10) 'It's Alright By Me'
    11) 'One Way Road'
    12) 'Down On The Pier'
    13) '7:30 Mode'
    14) 'On Her Own'
    15) 'Past Tense'
    16) 'Yesterday, Am I Right'
    17) 'Past My Door'

    1967 - other possibles:
    18) 'I Am Without You'
    19) 'Long Time'
    20) 'Till Today'

    1982 - Firebyrd outtake:
    21) 'She Loves You'

If this is only half accurate it would be a deeply impressive release. I'm going to consider this my personal celebration of the Byrds 50th
