Just posted on the Yahoo GC site:
Great, I'll look forward to this. I was just listening to Gene Clark (White Light) today.
I guess I can stop browsing eBay for this one
I just got a boner.
About time! I think this one is underrated. Lonely Saturday is one of his best songs ever.
Steady there, Chris.
Yeah, I love that one. It's like The Great Gene Clark Song no one ever talks about. To me it sounds like a C/W standard.
I'll have to wait and see what all youse fellows think of the sound on this one and also what the bonus trax are.
Guess I am one of the few who obtained Two Sides on CD when it was available for 5 minutes or so many moons ago.
Just a semi boner for me.
This has been number one of my wish list for years. Hope the rumors are true this time.
Maybe we'll finally see a release of the Silverados stuff like 'Wheel of Time' and 'What is Meant Will Be.'
It would also be nice to finally see 'Crazy Ladies' and 'Taken By Surprise' show up.
Before or after 4:46 PM?
It's the best Charlie Rich song that Charlie never wrote or sang. I wish Gene had done an entire straight country album. Lonely Saturday, The True One, and Life's Greatest Fool are in my Geno top 20. Maybe top 10, depending on my mood.
Cool. I was listening to this CD today. I'd welcome bonus tracks. I'd love to hear any existing demos of the songs for the album as well as unfinished/alternate takes. More Gene is always GOOD Gene.
Good news, I'll be keeping an eye out (!!!! not literally) for this.
Speaking of Gene, did anyone hear Andrew Sandovals' 2 hour Byrds special.... http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=240607&highlight=byrds ....he played one of the songs from "Sings for You" (and other rarities including the Byrds' "Change is Now" with isolations from the multitracks).
Really? Wow, I'm sorry I missed that. That is pretty huge in the holy grail dept. I believe the show is replayed this Sunday.
"Crazy Ladies" continues slays me. "Life's the window, love is the candle" is such a perfect lyric. So simple yet so profound. I think "Crazy Ladies", "Your Fire Burning" and "Dark of My Moon" form my Geno triumvirate of semi-obscure ballads. Nobody wrote ballads like that guy.
What track from SFY?
I'd have to add "Give My Love To Marie" from Two Sides To Every Story to that semi-obscure ballads list Chris unless you are only mentioning songs written by Gene.
A song that deals with love, death, children, regrets, and greed..all in 6.29.
"I'm a black lung miner from East Tennessee.."
Even though he didn't write it, he wasn't reaching out for silly love songs to record, that's for sure. He sounds like he's lived the lyric.
Great choice for a new label. I know I will be picking up a copy.
How did you guys miss this?
Podcasts here.... http://www.luxuriamusic.com/station/podcasts/Come_to_the_Sunshine ....what you want are the two 1st February ones. The first part is the 1.45 one. (d'uh).
Tom, it was "Past My Door"....at approx. 46.25 in, in the first part of the show...
Plenty of rarities on the show...mono single versions of "Have You Seen Her Face" (different mix from the mono album), likewise "So You Say You Lost Your Baby"....lots of mono mixes and if you listen closely when Andrew is talking there's a vocal-less "Artificial Energy" sans effects in there somewhere in the second half of the show at approx 13 mins in......altogether, not to be missed.
The "Notorious...." stuff, i.e. the aforementioned "Artificial Energy" and "Change is Now" (towards the end of the second part) must surely mean that the Sundazed "Notorious...." project is still going ahead (he said, hopefully).
Love the mellotron in that one.
No confirmation yet as to whether TSTES will be remastered. Definitely bonus tracks though.
My boner just got a boner.
I really don't want to know
Man, this is just GREAT news! Really looking forward to this release plus bonus trax.. Made my day....
Tom, what is the running length of SFY? Wondering if it could possibly be appended to something ala the wonderful Mountain Stage show that was added to 'Silhouetted in Light'..
