Just wanted to note that today would have been George Harrison's 67th birthday. Hard to believe he's been gone almost 9 years already.

The world will never forget you, George :)

That reminded me of the night before Jerry Garcia died, for some reason I played
Greatful Dead continuously. I never play any band's music continuously. :sigh:

Although his birthday is always listed as the 25th, I remember him saying in an interview back in the 90's that he had recently found out it was actually the 24th

According to his sister Louise, who was there, on last weekend's Beatle Brunch it was 12.10 AM Feburary 25.

Either way, Happy Birthday George. We miss you.

  12. For most of his life he believed it was the 25th but he later found out on a family birth record that he was actually born at 11:42 PM, 24th of February 1943 - 12 Arnold Grove, Wavertree Liverpool.

George in later life found out he was born shortly before midnight on February 24th but since he had thought it was the 25th for most of his life, kept on celebrating it on the 25th.

Regardless, it sure would be a more interesting material world if George were here to celebrate it among us mortals.:)

But I believe, subsequent to that, that it came out that this was all either a joke on George's part or a misunderstanding, and that his birthday really was February 25 after all. (I'm hoping this the case, as February 25th is also my birthday, and I've always been proud to share it with George.)

This was all rather furiously debated at the time it came out. In the end, I don't believe any document surfaced that proved the contention that George was actually born February 24.

But if there indeed was, I'm sure the Beatle experts here will produce it!

EDIT: If you do a Google search on "George Harrison" and "February 24," you get 18,000 hits. If you substitute "February 25" for the latter, you get 17,000. So until we find something that goes into this in greater detail, I'm still not sure. I definitely do remember when the controversy raged over this, and I could swear that in the end, it worked out that February 25 was correct after all.

Found something on that may shed some light on the February 24/25 controversy.

With a little bit of cross-referencing, I found that the source of it is Saki, who was quite renowned in Beatles circles for her thoughtfulness and the depth of her research in the 1990s.

Here is the citation from The Beatles Internet Album page:

The page that led me to Saki's actual posting contains this:
