I also put it in his top 2.

Rising Sun, Marwa Blues and the title track are my favorites.

The only song I don't care for is that rocking chair song.

BRAINWASHED is a fine, fine record. The album cover, however, ...

Fabulous record but please, don't mention it in the same breath with ATMP!

BINGO! That album cover is horrible. The "Harrison fans who probably had no idea that there was a new album out there" would've skipped right over it at Best Buy. They would've had a hard time coming up with a less appealing cover than that one.

I was (and am) a big Harrison fan, and I did skip over the album when it first came out because of the cover. I actually never bought it until after I heard the tracks from it on Let It Roll. When I did, I made a point to get the 'deluxe edition' with the box over it. I guess it was the cover George wanted, though.

Yes, that little boxed edition is very nice. Lots of extras, including a guitar pick, poster, and short DVD:

I've always questioned just how much the finished version reflected George's wishes. Here's one example...

I love this album and picked up the CD/DVD on release day in the UK. For me, yes there are certain standout tracks (I feel Brainwashed is the top track), but it works for me as a mood album too. Wish there were more tracks to be released, at the time this was announced there was a lot of talk of a version of Every Grain of Sand - if it's even half as good as the radio show version that's out there, would be amazing.

Would definitely love to see this reissued on vinyl as it's going for fairly hefty prices.

Hey! My copy doesn't have a guitar pick. I got it on release day and still have the hype sticker that says [partial] "Exclusive double sided poster + sticker". Doesn't mention a pick. What's on it?

I bought it in Canada. It says "Made in EU" on the disc and "Printed in E.U." on the box.

I seem to recall the overseas copies omitted the pick.

I'd like to know if there are some kind of chronology of the recording of this album.

Mad cows were referenced in "Pisces Fish," not "Rising Son." Nevertheless, I don't necessarily agree with earlier claims that "Rising Sun" was RECORDED in the early 1990s -- I only said that it had been WRITTEN during the Japan tour. (That was according to Dhani, I think, in a magazine interview when Brainwashed was released.)

If I had to listen to one George album forever, it'd be this one.

Brainwashed is a tide for number 2 actually, with Cloud Nine as being the other one!

A fine George album. I have come to appreciate it more and more over the years. I'm not sure I'd place it in the Top 5, but right after that:

    ATMP
    Cloud Nine
    Living In The Material World
    Thirty Three and 1/3
    George Harrison
    *Brainwashed

George albums, for me at least, tend to have long periods of not being played, and then you suddenly remember how good they are. I started listening again to 33 1/3 this week and it's such a lovely album. Brainwashed was depressing to hear when it came out, and I still think it's a very patchy affair, but maybe I'll rethink that, too...

These are George's six best albums in my book too! Love the unreleased 1980 version of "Somewhere In England", but that was never released!

Add me to the list of those who feel this is one of his best albums. I play Brainwashed and All Things Must Pass quite often. The other albums I usually select certain tracks.
I have the USA and UK CD, the UK CD is not as compressed as the USA one IIRC.

A truly beautiful, fine swan song from one of the more thoughtful and talented people ever.
I remember most all Fab purchases... But will never forget pulling up to the store release day morning at 10:00 AM
as they opened and securing a perfect vinyl copy... Love it all!
