    Such a rotten year.

I can't claim to have been a George Michael fan, but he was a talented songwriter, phenomenal singer and the only one I've heard convincingly cover a Freddie Mercury vocal when he tore up Somebody To Love at the Freddie tribute concert and stole the show.

Very sad news. Far too young aswell.

To think we've lost George Michael, Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson before 2017 is surprising.

I mean, these were the faces of the mid-late 1980's... they were everywhere.

The thing about losing George, Prince and David is that these were immeasurably talented folks who appealed to a wide spectrum, the likes of we will never see again. It doesn't seem to be possible to attain that level of popularity and respect nowadays. George was an amazing talent, he will be missed.

    Bad news. A great artist.
If there was ever a perfect pop song, "Faith" would be one of them.

A lot of cultural touch points disappearing this year. A reminder of mortality, but perhaps we should reflect on the fact that there are many talented people out there, who are unknown, dying in their thousands each year with no recognition whatsoever.

The loss of talented artists like George is very sad, but maybe this is an inadvertent opportunity to review our priorities?

THIS was the performance that made me realize how talented this man truly was.
An absolutely convincing and fine version.

Damn right. The music industry is decimated so while there may be plenty out there equally, maybe more talented, we are unlikely to see them rise to prominence in the same way ever again.

I'm reminded of so many great songs he left us with. RIP George. Those of us who grew up listening to you lost more than memories somehow.

    Another 80s icon is gone.
I actually liked a few of his songs: Freedom (by Wham!), Careless Whisper, Faith.
