And his first US No. 1 album, the following March (toppling Madonna):

I think the photo is from the "Careless Whisper" video shoot.

Pity none of the U.K. Magazines have not put George on the cover, I was hopeful that Q magazine would,

That's strange - I can't see any of the images you post in your original posts, but if I quote them (like here), the image appears.

    What's up with THAT?

I thought there might be a 'tribute' magazine or two by now... There seemed to be loads on Bowie and Prince almost instantly.

No idea. The pics are screenshots I've uploaded to Postimage.org.

Does Smash Hits still exist? At the very least, whoever the publisher is/was, should do a book and/or special tribute magazine of the best of their George Michael content. As we know (thanks mostly to you...), they had a lot of brilliant GM features/interviews, possibly more than any publication, even the serious ones.

The magazine ended in 2006, but there have been one off 'specials' on Take That, Michael Jacks0n and even Lady Gaga since. So I'd imagine a George/Wham! issue is certainly possible..

I imagine that Classic Pop might do one.
One of the Uncut specials would be great but George probably does not have enough albums to justify one.

NME and Mojo have done nice ones in the past. A couple of good ones on the likes of Abba and Madonna.

Just six albums (2 Wham!, 4 solo) in 33 years is everything to do with it. George made Kate Bush look prolific. And for a hefty chunk of their careers Abba, Bowie, Madonna and Prince were releasing an album a year. Sometimes two.

It looks lovely, but I was playing the original CD yesterday and it sounds so fantastic I don't know if I'll bother with this..

Given the lack of material that we don't already have, I certainly wont bother. The only thing I [was] looking forward to was the documentary - and I have plenty of friends that feel the same.

Yes, the documentary is tempting. I haven't seen it since back in the day but remember it being very good.

No, I mean't the new one [that George was narrating]. Not the South Bank show.

Oh yes. I'd forgotten about that! It's more tempting now!

I'm interested in the MTV Unplugged and the South Bank documentary.

Having said that, it would have been nice to see Trojan Souls or other archived material get released.
