I didn't know there was a reissue, I'm going to have to track that down. Would love to see an expanded version of the album with a second disc, but I know chances of that are slim.

It may be my favorite "single" of the entire 1970s. Breathtakingly majestic from start to finish, it just feels somehow larger than life to me. I remember it from before I was actively listening to popular music, as it was being played a lot during the summer of '78 when I was making a rare visit to my Dad, who lived in St. Louis. I'm not sure how conscious of it I was at the time, but in retrospect it seems the perfect soundtrack to a summer in a somewhat gritty urban environment.

Great song. It evokes the year 1978 like few others records released then.

  7. Not a reissue, it’s a two disc remastered edition with album on one and second disc with demos etc.

Back when the Charts meant something. Getting on a bus. Going to the store. Shelling out your money. Getting it home. Sticking it on. Fantastic. I'd still know 20 of them to at least hum along to.

It was! Trying to buy a single as early as possible before the ‘limited edition’ picture sleeve ran out was another thing too.:)

It’s a good reissue. Includes the B-Side of Baker Street and the (hideous!) original artwork too.:)

I think they sped it up to compete with the Smurfs who were in the charts around the same time.:D

Very nice of you to include the Wikipedia links. I picked up the cd this past year and was reminded what a nice sounding album it is. And its dirt cheap.

I remember hearing it on a PA system as I was reading a movie magazine interview with Anthony Daniels. He talked about the difficulty of wearing the C3PO costume and how it would be at least a year or two before we could expect to see a Star Wars sequel.

It was a long time ago.
