I remember reading about that. What was the deal? A personal quest? Hard to believe it was desperation for money. Also I think EMTs are criminally underpaid......

I recall reading that Timothy B. Schmidt was a real estate agent between The Eagles first breakup and reunion. I always thought that was a great image of him being a real estate agent and having that long flowing blonde hair...That is a great image of living in California.

Phil Alvin of the Blasters has a Master's Degree in Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence from Long Beach State and a Ph.D. from UCLA, but he appears to be quite content playing rock 'n' roll.

Sorry if this was mentioned earlier, but Greg Giuffria of Angel, Giuffria and House Of Lords fame, definitely got a haircut and a "real" job!

    Per Wikipedia:

"CEO of the Las Vegas-based Outland Development LLC, that designed and built gaming machines and theme park attractions, and was president of casino operator Full House Resorts from 1998 to 2000.[2] He is also co-owner of the Biloxi Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, along with partners Roy Anderson III and David Ross."

  13. As was noted upthread, he was a volunteer who did it for the experience. Even if he somehow pissed away his fortune from VH’s heyday, Roth will always be able to live well off his royalties.

  14. I don’t know if it’s at All State, but he is indeed an actuary.

Chris Chew quit North Mississippi Allstars to be Kenny Chesney's bus driver (no lie)

    Amen.
Worked for 20 years as a 'professional musician', aiming for that elusive "deal".

When I was finally offered one, it was for not much money, and I was already tired of 'the road' and ready to hang out with my family and my dog.

They'd have to give me MILLIONS to do it now. And they won't. So I don't.

    It's simple.

    Your dad seems wise.

I think he actually bought a bus w/the intention of that being "plan B", and now makes six figures a year...WAY more than he was making in NMAS.

It's why they did the duo shows for awhile and now have rotating bass players - anyone with a pulse could hold down "the 1" in that band, so now, basically anyone does.

You are right! Even Ian Anderson has said within the last few year or so, that the music business is only a sideline for him. All of his other businesses now take up most of his time.

Kenny G. is supposed to be pretty handy with club, Willie Nelson had his own course and big band singer Don Cherry went on the PGA.
