It's probably a bad sign for your horror movie when the premise has me laughing out loud because it looks so stupid. Oof...

Oh, according to Wikipedia it's supposed to be satirical (?) so maybe I'm supposed to laugh at it? Whatever.

The Wikipedia article says it was conceptually inspired by The Stepford Wives. Here's the article:

Don't read the plot, of course. :)

  5. The fact that it was written and directed by a comedian should tell you something.

Sixteen reviews in at Rotten Tomatoes, still at 100%. Looking good ahead of next week's opening:

Can't remember the last time I laughed out loud during a trailer, but I did at this one. I leaned over to my nephew and said "This better be a satire, or else this might be the worst movie ever made". Skimming the reviews, now I'm really intrigued. I'm "in".

  8. All you have to do is see the trailer. Spoils the whole movie.

Twenty-seven reviews are in and the movie is still at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. I'll be seeing it this weekend with John Wick 2.

I'm glad I'm not as bright as Wayne as I'm still not totally sure what happens in the movie despite seeing the trailer. But if I had to guess...

    They're turning blacks into whites?

"John Wick 2" I found to be surprisingly entertaining and witty, considering it's a genre I'm not particularly enamored with.

"Get Out" is definitely on my list, and I won't be reading any reviews. If it's a straight-up horror movie (another genre that's not my favorite) I will be surprised and a bit disappointed. We shall see.

It's not a straight-up horror movie. And I'll leave it at that since you want to know as little as possible. :)

Glad to hear you liked JW2.

Ninety-two reviews are in at Rotten Tomatoes and Get Out is still at 100%. This is beyond impressive now.

The glowing reviews are, IMO, deserved. An entertaining film that was surprisingly funny.

Looks interesting. The title "Get Out" is an appropriate subtitle to the 2016 horror thriller: "Don't Breath," where a couple of young hooligans/thieves are trapped in the house of a blind military veteran who happens to be a violent bada$$ with preternatural hearing and sensory abilities: Don't Breathe

  20. Of course, given the nature of the movie and the politics of most critics, it would be surprising if the movie wasn't getting strong reviews.

Have you seen it or did you just happen to be standing on a soapbox and felt obliged to comment?

I really enjoyed "Get Out" but I found "I Am Not Your Negro", which got rave reviews and is nominated for an Oscar, to be nothing to write home about, since it didn't really contain any new information or fresh ideas (and I had seen so much of the footage already).

Given the politics of this film goer ... um ... maybe I just judge each film I see on its own merit.

This film is great! Well shot, well acted and really funny satire on race.
