I was also disappointed, there’s been so many positive reviews including those on here so I thought I would undoubtedly like it, well I came away wondering if I’d seen the same film, usually I’m pretty in sync with IMDB ratings, but this one has me baffled

Honestly, I thought it was gonna be funny...
don't get me wrong..I still liked it...
But, in my opinion, it was funny like "Event Horizon" was funny...

I thought it was okay. I'd recommend it I guess but not deserving of the crazy hype. IMO, of course.

I enjoyed this a lot. Kudos to Jordan for sharp satire some nuanced direction. I'll never witness a tea cup being stirred in the same way again.

Just saw it last night and had a blast. Expected a straight up horror movie, but it isn't really. Glad I never saw the trailer beforehand, which gives a lot away.

I wanted to see this movie because of the trailer -- and it didn't hurt the movie in the least for me. I mean, yeah, I knew something bad was going to happen to the dude, and
I figured blacks were being turned into whites in some way
but that didn't spoil the movie for me (unlike wayneklein). :)

The DVD/BR has the original ending (the ending I expected when the flashing lights came toward Chris).

Jordan Peele also wrote (but didn't shoot) an ending a la the "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" remake, where Rod finds Chris but he's already "crossed over".

I just looked it up. That had to be the kind of ending everyone expected, as I did too. Peele made the right choice, IMO.

I totally expected the setup of an earlier scene to play out at the end differently than how it actually played out. Fortunately, the ending we got also made sense.

The problem I had with this flick is that from the start of the film, all the people who were "involved" acted weird, which gave me the feeling through-out that something strange was going to happen. The reason this bothered me was, I usually like to be a bit surprised with the plot, but the "weird" acting sort of gave it away from the beginning. Other than that, it was a cool movie. Just my 2 cents.

I don't think they overtly 'acted weird', and the movie explained the 'acting weird' as white people overcompensating around a black guy to not seem racist.

    Of course, the
black characters 'inhabited' by whites acted weird, but that was something totally different...

My favorite film of 2017 thus far. Gave it another viewing last week and it stood up well, IMO.

  17. Saw this one in theaters and enjoyed it a lot. One of my favorite "newer" horror films.

TSA character was realistic, and funny. I didn't notice an over abundance of F-bombs, honestly. I mean, one of the characters apologized for saying the S-word at one point. Crikey. Film was good, very concise and good flow of events. I found it pretty disturbing, effectively creepy. The characters acted odd, it's no wonder, there was some well-effed up s*** afoot...

I thought the same thing, but then, it could've been possible for him to lean his head down/over if his upper body wasn't restrained, aside from his arms.

This movie was great! It totally played with my expectations. And it was funny the whole way (to me). Darkly funny... but man. Great entertainment.
