Ghostworld is the story of how I married my wife. She is a misfit and I am a collector.

    I'm a yuge fan too.

  3. I dunno, I thought it was pretty disappointing after Ghost World. I mean, it's good, but it doesn't hold together as well, it doesn't have the depth of character, and I don't think the tone ever really matches the material.

I've always liked the actress who portrayed the art teacher in GW. After watching "Being There" recently, one of the extras on the dvd was an interview w/ the grand-daughter of Melvyn Douglas...the actress
who was in GW, Illeana Douglas. You learn something every day.

If you've never seen it, track down Grace of My Heart. Yeah, it's a "chick flick" about romance and heartbreak, but she plays a fictionalized version of Carole King starting during the Brill Building era, and they hired songwriters from that time to write new songs in that style and they're really good.

In To Die For, she plays a very happy person at the end of the film........

I'll never hear "Season Of The Witch" the same way again.

I can definitely see where you're coming from, and I do prefer Ghost World, for those reasons. I just think that Art School Confidential's ending gives it something that Ghost World lacks, as far as plot goes.
The main character confessing to a murder he didn't commit just so that his art would gain noteriety
    is quite a twist.

Ghost World does a better job establishing its characters, but never does anything that brazen, plot-wise.

Again, overall, I give the edge to Ghost World, but I think they're both excellent, and well worth seeing.

    Obsessive record-collecting loner? Check.

Strong connection to underground comix and R. Crumb? Check.

    Early Scarlett Johansson? Check.

    What's not to love?

Jeff and Stephen McDonald from Redd Kross also supposedly have a blink-and-miss-it cameo somewhere in there.

I got a chuckle when I saw the rather 'tallish' John Turturro playing Phil Spector-based character.

He's such a good actor that he can play short and make you believe it.

My favorite one of those was Shawn Colvin sitting in a tree, playing guitar.

I wish the soundtrack had the song God Give Me Strength with the orchestra and Kirstin Vigard's beautiful vocal. Instead, we get Elvis' wretched croaking. Elvis, I love you as a songwriter and you're a decent enough singer, but who told you you could croon?

She has four movies coming out this year, so it looks like she's on an up-tick.

I love that dancer and I love how natural their moves are compared to most of the robotic dance moves we see nowadays. I'd love to see someone replicate that scene for a music video.

Somebody did! At least, for some commercial and I do not remember for what company. Original broadcasts of the commercial used parts of the original clip and audio. Within a few weeks they had a new version with a re-creation of the part they used in the commercial, video and audio re-created. When I saw the new version, I thought what? and why? did they do it - but they did. Maybe a rights issue.

They used the song, but they made up their own dance sequence.

I just found that on youtube. I would have sworn that I saw a version with the original film first, then the recreation, because the change startled me.
    It seems I was wrong!
