I'm definitely in. The only question is will there be any special package offerings or such.

    YES
I can't remember - was Harrow available from
other retailers? The $8+ shipping from Acony is the only thing keeping me from preordering

Yes but that will ensure you get a 1st pressing.

Yes - I bought mine from amazon UK. 1st press too.

  6. That's good news. Shipping from the US will be way too expensive, but if it's available from the UK as well I'm in. My favourite Gillian Welch album, I'd love to have it on vinyl.

    I ordered from Acony.

Agreed. That particular price point for shipping keeps me from ordering from their site. I'd like to support them directly, but $8.50 for shipping a single LP is a bit much. USPS Media Mail would be a viable option for them, surely? Or perhaps their site's billing app won't allow shipping via MM?

I'm trying to remember what Harrow cost to ship. I don't recall it being 8.50

I really don't think $8.50 is terribly expensive for shipping an LP.

If you look at the USPS website, priority mail starts at $6.70.

Agree to disagree. I think it's ridiculous. But I know Gillian's not fleecing anyone, it's just because she's essentially doing everything in-house and that drives up costs.

It was around that, IIRC. I remember that I declined to order through them for that very reason.

I don't want my LP to be sent via media mail. I want it to be sent via something reliable and "trackable" and if it costs a little more, I'm prepared to pay it. But then, I usually opt for express courier shipping for Amazon overseas as well, so I guess you can't go by me.

I understand that releasing it this way isn't inexpensive, but the majority of people aren't going to order through them for that very reason - they'll buy it through 3rd-party resellers like Amazon or the bigger online record stores.

I wasn't arguing for MM necessarily. And by the way MM is reliable (my experience) and does include tracking.

I pre-ordered the minute I received the email from Acony. Time (The Revelator) is what got me into Gillian, but Soul Journey is a slow-burn masterpiece that's clawed its way to the top of my favorites list. To me it very much has a hazy, Basement Tapes vibe. Lowlands, Wayside Back in Time, One Monkey, and her masterpiece Wrecking Ball just touch me somewhere inside like few other songs do.

I've found MM to be pretty reliable too, tracking included. With a decent LP mailer, there's no reason they couldn't ship via MM (although they may have determined that most people ordering through their site would prefer a speedier shipping method).

It’s her John wesley Harding moment. Genius

Probably a smart move to start with Soul Journey as the first new mastered analogue title from the back catalogue. But Im much more biting at the bit for the first 3. I truely hope they release those.

Pre-ordered from Acony. I had trouble getting the previous Acony vinyl releases from Amazon.
