When I was a tot I'd do this vicariously through my dad, who'd put my records on tape for me. I'd have him loop them so I could hear it again after it ended. The only problem was I often gave him 45s, so here's to hoping he had an automatic turntable of some kind or he'd have had to sit there recording A Hard Day's Night 40 times in a row...

Incidentally, does anyone want me to post my "Heroes and Villains" edit now?

I posted it here ages ago, but I'm sure the link is long dead - I'll gladly repost if anyone's interested. :)

I refuse to believe TheLazenby actually did this edit. I think he's just window dressing for visual appeal. :D

  10. What have we, what have we, what have we done to deserve this?

I haven't listened to it--Is this the version where it gets stuck on "Girl, you know it's--girl you know it's--girl you know it's--girl you know it's--girl you know it's..."?

Dude, and pardon me for addressing you as "dude" if that's not your thing, these extended remixes of yours are something else. The "Girl You Know It's True" is interesting, but your "Heroes and Villains" is epic, truly epic. When hearing the name Lazenby, I always thought of the ill-fated 007 actor, or at least one of them. But now I will not think of George, I will only think of "The" Lazenby. Were I the mayor of Pittsburgh, I can only think a commendation of some sort would be in order. (Probably not the key to the city though, I'm not so sure you should have the key to anything). :D

Kudos. I'm putting both of these in my iTunes collection.

Yeah, I don't know why I stole his name. :p

I started using this screenname various places when I was a kid (and more of a Bond fan) and just keep using it because my memory's terrible.

If you are interested in learning the story behind the Girl You Know It's True, check out the podcast LIAR CITY: they did an entire episode on it here -

For those of you with the stories about repeating a song over and over on cassette, I think you might appreciate the Hold Steady's video for Stuck Between Stations. If you're not into them, just check out the first :40 and maybe the last minute - you'll get a kick out of how it's bookended:

I love how your "Girl You Know It's True" extended mix cycles through every major production value of the mid to late 80s. By the time I got done listening to it I was wearing parachute pants and had mousse in my hair.

I was so high on these guys after their first two albums, and then in my view they started to falter. I think Teeth Dreams should have been called Apparently, Our Band Is So Over.

Mostly stolen by Frank Farian, too. :p A vast majority of that material is just unlicensed samples.

Ah yes, the wild sampling west of the Paul's Boutique era. I'd have to listen to your extended mix again but as you say I'm sure there are recognizable sounds from other tracks of the same or earlier vintage.

Want to see me dance like an idiot for the entirety of this remix (plus a special Boney guest appearance)?

    Sure you do. :-D
