I find the Bright daylight with the dead bodies in the sand along with the Gyorgy Ligeti music very unsettling for this kind of movie.

I'm hoping the tone of the film is just as dark and ominous as the trailer, if so it could be the best Godzilla film since the 1954 Japanese version.

I'm excited, been a fan of TOHO films since I was a little kid in the 70s.

It's a variation of the original roar. TOHO has changed it dozens of times over the years, not surprised to hear another version.

I was expecting the next Godzilla film to be an official entry in the Toho series.... but this is an American reboot... is Toho even involved?

Still, the teaser looked pretty cool ... I like the dark, ominous vibe (which is what made the original 1954 film so effective). The fact that Gareth Edwards is directing gives me some hope... his film Monsters (2010) was quite good.

I'm so used to hearing the Ligeti music during 2001: A Space Odyssey that it was a bit jarring to hear it in a Godzilla trailer... but it actually seems surprisingly well-suited!

Toho wanted to produce another Godzilla film but were unable to secure funding, so instead they licensed Godzilla to Legendary Pictures for this film.

I hope you're not referring to Roland Emmerich's 1998 abomination.....

No I think it's great they went back to the original (at least a reworking of it)! Always liked that sound. :)

I saw the teaser not loving it. Godzilla is a little chunky?

To each his own.... personally I'm glad it's not part of the official series, as that would be an insult to the Godzilla name. ;)

(One of the best scenes in Final Wars was when the *real* Godzilla kicked '98 Zilla's ass....) ;)

I think they're screwed. Didn't Pacific Rim already kinda do all this already?

This looks like a different take on a similar concept, there are no giant robots in this Godzilla, and Pacific Rim focused on the fights.

You don't think a recognizable name like Godzilla with 60+ years of brand recognition will be easier to market than Pacific Rim (which had no brand and no name actors to help with promotion)?

I think a safe bet would be to expect the gross from the 1998 movie(adjusted)as you said people recognize the name, thats why 90% of everything is a rehash of some past idea that people remember.

that would work, then we would get another one.they would make another remake in 20 years anyway, but sooner would be better.
