Hi everyone. Is there really an advantage to using 24K gold CD-R to make copies. Will the music sound better? Will it hold data more reliably? If we use the general rule that a "bit is a bit" with 1s and 0s, there should be no difference between a regular 50 cent CD-R and a gold CD-R. Thanks.

You get the gold reflective layer. Because it is a cd-r you still can have the issue of the recording dye becoming unstable making the gold cd-r unreadable. All cd-r discs use recording dye and that is the weakness of them.

No. Do a search on the board for Taiyo Uden to read the debate.

Bits are bits. Buy a cheap spindle of whatever CDs you can get your hands on, and a bottle of goldschlager. You'll get just as much gold but you'll save a bit and you'll be much happier for it.
