There is a thread on here that made me more interested in Julia Holter. http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/julia-holter-loud-city-song-best-2013.327300/

Some of the stuff does see a lot of shelf wear. The best luck I have found is with stuff that is not marked on sale but rings up as on sale.

It seems like all the Toronto area stores are running 50% off.

Damn, those Built To Spill albums cost me a lot more than $10! There is No Enemy is all-analog, by the way.

Picked up Wilco A GHOST is Born.

Our store didn't have much else of interest to me. Wish they had the newest Wilco album. I really like it.

People, please note that all sale items are an additional 50% now at UO. I went in today and got a handful of the $9.99 LPs for $5 each. Including, Elliot Smith XO, Flaming Lips TERROR, Explosions in the Sky, Sleigh Bells, Grizzly Bear B sides, and a few more.

Following hints here, I inquired if two LPs I actually really DO want (Wilco's YANKEE HOTEL FOXTROT and Grizzly Bear's SHIELDS) might also be on sale. Neither had SALE stickers. The Wilco was full price at $28.98. The Grizzly Bear was listed at $28.98 but had a secret promotion at $18.98. I didn't get a further 50% off, since promotions are different from sale items.

This certainly beats the 10% off sale at musicdirect and others....

Ok, the $5 records got my attention. I just got back from the UO at Dadeland here in Miami. Someone had already been there before me and picked up 34 records. The sale rack was pretty empty but I was able to find a few. Then the girl that works there tells me the story about the previous customer buying 34 records. She also told me that she's bringing more records out from the back. Woo hoo!!! I guess their job is to keep that rack full. So I find a bunch of records and when I get to the counter the guy ringing me up asks the girl, how many records are left in the back? she answered, one more bin. so I asked in my nicest voice, I don't get over here too often, do you think that I could check out the records in the back? He said, sure, I'll go get them. I said, I'll meet you at the door. In total I picked up 29 records. All $5 each. Most familiar and some that just looked interesting. Here's what I got:

-The Civil Wars - Barton Hollow
-The Flaming Lips - The Terror
-Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks - Wig Out at Jagbags
-Explosions In The Sky & David Wingo - Prince Avalanche Soundtrack
    -Ween - Chocolate And Cheese
    -Superchunk - I Hate Music
    -Deer Tick - Negativity
-Built To Spill - There Is No Enemy
-The Walkmen - Bows + Arrows
    -Rumer - Boys Don't Cry
-Grouper - Dragging A Dead Deer Up A Hill
-Grouper - The Man Who Died In His Boat
    -The Thermals - F***in A
-The Thermals - More Parts Per Million
    -Pavement - Slanted And Enchanted
-Godspeed You Black Emperor! - 'Allelujah! Don't Bend Ascend
-Alabama Shakes - Boys & Girls
    -Elliott Smith - XO
    -Elliott Smith - Figure 8
    -Goat - World Music
-Nuggets - Original Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era (Rhino)
    -Grizzly Bears - Shields B-sides
-Neko Case - The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight
-Talking Heads - Remain In Light (Rhino)
    -Beth Orton - Sugaring Season
-The Mountain Goats - Transcendental Youth
    -Widowspeak - Almanac
    -Volcano Choir - Repave
-Matador Sampler - Pay No More Than $6 (This one was $1.99)

Thanks bilgewater for the heads up starting this thread.:thumbsup:

Dang! I would definitely pick up some of these titles which are definitely not marked at my store, but our 50% off sale is over. Even at $10 some are still a good deal though.

Agreed! That's a nice haul. Nothing like this over over in Princeton last weekend but now I'm wondering if I should give them a call tomorrow.....hmmm....

Can't hurt but best ask for a store manager I'd suggest.

Well, I had no plans until this afternoon so I actually took a trip over to the Cherry Hill Mall (after calling ahead and confirming that there were some LP's on sale).

Had a decent selection - better than Princeton, in fact. Grabbed Pixies, Neko Case, Madlib, DIIV, Beach Fossils for 5 bucks each. and the Matador sampler for $2.

They had a few Neko Case's left, one Sleigh Bells with the plastic wrap partially off (I almost bought that one, but I already own it on lossy), several of the Matador samplers. And recall seeing Thermals, Grizzly Bears B-Sides, Julia Holter, Notwist, Matt & Kim, Pond, Divine Fits, Stephen Malkmus and several other things. No Civil Wars, no Talking Heads (on sale), no Walkmen, no Explosions in the Sky, no Built to Spill.

Good grab. Nice to hear they had some good titles left. The Matador sampler is pretty good, especially for $2.

Did you ask if they had anymore in the back?:D

Pretty busy over there, so didn't really think to ask. I did pull a few choice titles off the regular rack and got them price checked, however (confirmed they weren't on sale). ;)

Slim pickings at the Burlington MA store (and none in back...I asked). Picked up the Jim James 'Regions of Light' album for $5.

The Talking Heads that I picked up was the only one they had. It was in the sale bin still sealed. I had so much crap that I didn't bother pricing/scanning the non-sale items.

That Best Coast one I had gotten for $5, over in Princeton last week (grabbed the last one) -- good EP imo and worth every penny. But $2.50 would have even been better! :)

I was wondering if the other Best Coast LPs were priced at $9.99? They didn't have the red sticker on them. But maybe the register would have rang-up the $9.99 price? Was hoping to find Alabama Shakes or the Allman Brothers. Didn't see either in the stacks.

Which store did you go to? Don't you sometimes live in South Florida? The Dadeland store had several Alabama Shakes and no Allman Brothers. I'd like to see what the Aventura or South Beach stores have.

The Trueblood album looked interesting but I ended up putting it back.
