I recently viewed the 1985 film Ladyhawke and for the most part the storyline was good as well as the acting...

But...the accompanying music was just horrendous :shake:

It's a good film that could have been great if not for the cheesy music.

"Family Business" with Sean Connery, Dustin Hoffman and Matthew Broderick. The score does NO justice to the story or performances.

"Office Space" either has the best or worst soundtrack ever. XD

The fact that the music (all gangsta rap, usually filthy) is completely at odds with the movie is kind of genius.

I know a lot of people like the music, but I don't like a single song from it.

'awful' is a bit extreme isn't it? It's perhaps not up to the classic SW scores but not 'awful'.

Less of the hyperbole is always a good thing on forums.

There Will be Blood. Always distracting, sometimes annoying.

It's been a long time since I've seen it, but I don't remember hating the music. Was it a synth score? Many movies in the 80s were.

I admit I'm a Radiohead fan but I do think the soundtrack worked for that one. Although I wouldn't mind seeing the film with an alternative score which was more 'traditional'.

Both The Pirates of Penzance and The Princess Bride suffer from cheesy synth scores. Good melodies, but if I had obscene amounts of money I'd buy the films and hire an orchestra to properly score them.

This is going to get me into trouble, but - The Graduate. It's the same three songs over, and over and over again!

Ditto. I always figured Cy Coleman was hired to do the music for the film, either couldn't come up with anything or didn't much care, so he gave them some old tunes he had lying around and called it a day. I can't believe he ever watched the film and wrote that music for it.

Midnight Express. I liked the soundtrack when it first came out, but I saw it recently and thought the music was terrible. The film aged well, the music ...not so much.

Lords of Flatbush instantly comes to mind. Wish they could have licensed a few oldies by the original artists to accompany the film.

While the movie was never going to be a classic reflection of the times like an American Graffiti, it could have felt more authentic and timeless.

No protest here. First time I saw it, I was sick of S Fair by the time it was over.

  20. The Untouchables soundtrack has some orchestral-type passages marred by cheesy '80s syndrums. Not a good choice by the composer.

    That's outrageous! Wrong!

But my wife feels the same way. She can't watch it with me and even being in hearing range drives her nuts.

Gonna be a lot of 80s movies in this thread!

My pick: "For Your Eyes Only". Not as good a Bond movie as some claim, but still a strong enough effort that the score mars. Bill Conti gave the movie a weird disco-ish score that craps all over the film...
