I found a little about this in a search but not much mention of the audio quality of the recommended blu-rays with rca outs. Can beggars be choosers? Thanks

Budget? I have an Oppo 105D with the Modwright mods. Sounds really good.

$300 or less maybe a used oppo. Just read the review on the oppo bdp-93 the reviewer didn't seem impressed with the sound quality though. I know the higher end oppo models are audiophile. I am also looking at pioneer (rca outs). I see an oppo bdp-103 for $300?

I have and have been using a Samsung BD-F7500 for quite some time, bought the thing new, that has RCA outputs. Sounds really good and can be hooked up to a 2.o system as well as a 7.1 system. Take a look at the auction site; very cheap now for the sound quality.

See if you can snag a NOS Sony BDP-S370 or 470. A few years old now but nice sounding player for the minimal outlay.

I've owned both the BDP-93 and BDP-103 and can vouch that both of them have excellent sound quality relative to their price points.

My answer whenever I see a thread like this: the Oppo BDP-103. I got mine for $400, and with the 203 out now you can probably find one for even cheaper.

Looking at your system I think a used Oppo 93 or 103 would be a good choice. Plus, Oppos supports their products forever if you have issues.

That's exactly what I was thinking. If you know, what are the surface differences between the 93 and the 103?

The biggest differences involve video vs. audio. Newer video decoding chipset, front mounted HDMI in, etc. I think they use the same Cirrus logic DAC.

The Sony UBP-X1000ES has RCA L and R outs. It's 4K, 3D, WiFi and is currently $599. Maybe it will be available for $300 for the Holidays. Maybe worth keeping an eye out...

If you are specifically looking for "Multichannel" outputs, NO current BluRay player has them (DAMN analog sunset). The above mentioned "pre-owned" OPPO's are a good bet. I also know Panasonic had a couple of older models that had analog multi outs. The most current one was the DMP-BDT300 . I have the older DMP-BD85K, that sounds GREAT with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-MA.

The latest 4K Oppos do indeed still have Multichannel outputs.

Just stereo rca is necessary, for a headphone setup.

I got an HDMI to component adapter from rat shack ($40) or your tv probably has digital out. Make sure your dac will mix 5.1 to stereo for movies, many don't, at least on the low end.

Got a used OPPO bdp-93 for $230 free shipping on Ebay. Apparently a lot of people aren't impressed with the analog audio on this unit. I guess I will have to get the Onkyo 7030 again for cd playback. The oppo will be the end game for me as far as dvd/Blu rays are concerned. Edit: until 4k kicks in. I don't even know how much that will effect me 90% of the movies i own are from twenty years ago and more. I also stream.
