Well that was easy in the end, that’s for sharing. It’s a weird cover but I’ve always kinda liked it; not sure what that means.
Aside from cover art-I find myself a little maudlin this evening. I am feeling that Jerry is no longer really with us ( other than his recorded legacy). And it really sucks. I was explaining to my daughter about the special feeling of being in the room with the man when he played-and I guess it hit me again -we will never have that again. Sorry to bum any one but ****.....
nah. I'm only a Doctor of Semiotics in the Hunter S. Thompson sense. A self-conferred honorific. I am a huge fan of Umberto Eco, the semiotician-novelist who acquainted me with the concept. Very quotable guy. Umberto Eco Quotes - BrainyQuote "A symbol is anything that can be used to tell a lie." For example, although I definitely travel the spaceways, you may be surprised to learn that I don't really resemble the creature depicted in my avatar photo. Except in affect, that is. And my ride isn't really a slice of cheese pizza; it's a blue Toyota Matrix. Which is yet another misleading symbol and false cognate, at least according to fans of the film by that title. Although I didn't find the movie to be all that profound, myself. I've never made it halfway through. You might say that I think that people who speak of being "redpilled" as actually having been tricked into taking the blue pill, if my understanding of the symbolism is correct. I think the "meme" thing is bogus, too. Although mimetic behavior is definitely a massive thing with humans. And with that, I conclude this lecture.
that was my impression of Neil, on my first acquaintance with his solo work: "Everybody knows this is nowhere..." "I was lying in a burned-out basement, with the full moon in my eyes..."
The Matrix is a movie about the matrix that the matrix would make. If you're into the whole Baudrillard thing.
To expand a bit -I have always kind of walked aroun also mentions a "still secret" LP release forthcoming as well...
I scored a WB (early) US green label of Jerry's Solo debut yesterday. This is the one with the song DEAL, just in case there is another untitled LP in his catalog. I will be comparing this against my later pressing, which I can't recall the exact press, but later than green label.
