What title? This new Black Friday RSD release is 2 LPs not 4. You must have gotten something other than this new release.

This appears to be an extraordinary release; however, at some point I'm going to have to pass on SOMETHING (which, in retrospect, should've been May '77), though apparently not today as I just put another $124 onto VISA after what started out a harmless trip to deadnet to check out the new almanac. Makes it kinda hard to expand the collection with regard to other music, though expenditures are fairly proportionate to listening habits at this time./K

Definitely getting the vinyl on Black Friday, but being the collector that I am and a "Dead Head", I also ordered the CD from Dead.net a few days ago. The description says Pre-order estimated ship on 11/29.... yet ... today...

I got an email that stated the following:

    1. Family Dog at the Great Highway, San Francisco, CA 4/18/70 CD
    Item No. 3385-478208
    Quantity Shipped: 1

Strangely enough this email came within minutes of the email telling me that my copy of Dave Picks Vol8 shipped, so I wonder if this was a mistake??? and that my Dave Picks is coming, but the Family Dog CD shipment was premature? Yet I did get a tracking number that is different than the one received for my Dave Picks. Since the email just came, the tracking number doesn't show up yet - so I guess the real "tale of the tape" will be over the next few days if the tracking number goes "live".

Regardless, I have the CD on order and will report back if it indeed shipped and then should arrive within a few days to a week.

Hmmm. . . I got an email that my shipping was refunded on the subscription, and that No.8 shipped, but not about the Family Dog.

Okay, and I got a third email saying Family Dog has shipped. Well, unexpected but that would be cool.

So the CD version of this is already "sold out"?

I wanted order the CD along with a 2014 Dave's Picks subscription.

Am wondering if they sold a few CDs to generate more demand for the vinyl or decided to pull back on CD sales to increase vinyl sales on RSD?

Maybe they'll discover or produce a limited quantity of CDs at a later date?

Music listening/record collecting/consumer manipulation sure isn't as much fun as it used to be.

I think the shipping notice on the Family Dog was a mistake. . . maybe meant to be an order confirmation. Just my hunch, they probably haven't shipped any and won't til the 29th or so. If they don't party too hard over Thanksgiving.

Apparently not a mistake, at least according to Coconut Phil:

    Spinning right now, sounds good.
I'm listening right now, sounds really nice. You can tell its an old recording, but it still is classic Grateful Dead. Jerry sounds really sharp on FOTD. The crowd in the background sound really calm, little did they know they were becoming part of Deadhead history. The band is chattering a lot to each other, fussing at Bear. Big Thanks to all involved in getting this out to us heads. Please keep it coming.

    Peace

Only a few hours ago pre-ordering wasn't an option.

    Thanks!
