I had no idea this was coming. Do I need more July 1989?

Limited to a particular number of copies or what's the story? Says to be a "Dead.net exclusive" on Dead.net.

For me this is a case of 'of all the two-night runs that could be released...?'

I was at both shows, so I ordered one......would've passed otherwise.

Neither show was very good. 7/7/89 JFK Philly (Crimson White & Indigo) was much better.

How were these shows? Anywhere near the Warlocks shows later in the year?

    Mediocre. Nowhere near Hampton 89.

"He's Gone" opening a 2nd set was interesting.

    This is a headscratcher.

RFK 1990 was better. And if you are going 80s... where the hell is 6.30-7.1.85?

    Dunno about another 89 twofer.

Hope this isn't a limited release. Might be something worth checking out in the future.

    Right on both counts.

I like the 1990 show even better than the 1991 show.

I've been calling for a Summer 85 Saratoga>Hershey>Merriweather x 2 box set in other threads.

During the "He's Gone" the JumboTron flashed "Nothing left to do but : ) : ) : ) " the way it was printed on back of the 'NetHead' t-shirt!

I'm on the west coast but I got to both of these shows. I was scheduled for a business trip to D.C. the week previous but managed to get it changed so I could see my only East Coast shows. I was surprised that people were so intent on getting onto the field, jumping down from the seats and being chased around by security. I think dead.net is pumping the shows up a bit, they didn't seem particularly significant but I only heard it in a large stadium. Maybe the movie tonight will improve my memories. I had to order the box regardless

89/90 are 2 of my key Dead years so I'm in for the 24/192

If dead.net exclusives mean more music is put out there then I'm happy with that.

As one of the relatively few who'd be glad to see more '89-'91 come out ... consider me partially whelmed.
Maybe I pass on this and it bolsters the case for going back to the Dave's subscription.

Since the first night is tonight's "Meetup" presentation, might there be a bonus DVD? I assume there will be a Dave video tonight explaining it all.

Price seems pretty steep for just 2 shows, I'm hoping a DVD is included. Seems particularly cruel to have this be a theatrical release and then not include the DVD.

    INTRODUCING ROBERT F. KENNEDYSTADIUM, WASHINGTON, D. C., JULY 12 & 13, 1989
    [IMG]

"When Bob Weir has asked me to provide copies of Grateful Dead songs to give to his bandmates to learn and rehearse, he almost always requests Summer '89, and I've often drawn upon the RFK shows for this purpose. It's really that good!" - David Lemieux

With Bob to back us up, we've picked a pair of triumphant back-to-back shows from one of the best tours of the last 15 years of Grateful Dead. ROBERT F. KENNEDY STADIUM, WASHINGTON, D.C., JULY 12 & 13, 1989 features two previously unreleased concerts taken from the band's master 24-track analog recordings (you may have heard these shows before, but you've never heard them like this), which have been pristinely mixed by Jeffrey Norman at TRI Studios and mastered in HDCD by David Glasser.

Now available for pre-order exclusively at Dead.net, this six-disc set will be shipped in early November. The collection's colorful slip-case features original artwork by Justin Helton and a perfect-bound book with in-depth liner notes written by Dean Budnick, editor-in-chief of Relix magazine. Looking for something more byte-sized? The set will also be available as a digital download in Apple Lossless and FLAC 192/24 exclusively at Dead.net.

I was at the 2 shows right before RFK (@Giants). Listening to those shows now for "context" for tonight's "movie". As good as I remember them!
