  3. Since 1986 during my college radio show, The Island of Living Puke by Zoogz has been a regular listen in my life. I never saw him referenced on a music forum until right now. It's good to see that someone out there still remembers Zoogz. SST was a wild label.

  5. For lost and forgotten 80's albums, I recommend Jean Beauvoir "Drums Along the Mohawk", 1986, Virgin Records. His personality shows through all over the album. It listens like an autobiography.

My Beatles: The Smiths. Not merely a discography unmarred (pun?) by a poor track, but of enormous significance in an historical context.

Oh lord, then I see JRJ's superb recommendation of the Pixies. Great art is fearless; I wish I could swagger through life with the confident, risk-taking panache of Black, Deal & Co.

My favorite album of the 80’s is Rush’s Grace Under Pressure. Unlike most of their material, you don’t really have to be a Rush fan to enjoy it. The songwriting, performances, and production are great, especially for the era. I honestly think it would be thought of as a classic album if it didn’t carry all the baggage and expectations of being a Rush album.

I have that one. It felt more bleak compared to the other 80s albums but I love it regardless.

Wow, totally forgot about those guys. Only song I remember is Take Me On.

Where do you start with some of those guys? Depeche Mode, I like some of their stuff but mostly their singles compilations.

Have some Police but only Ghost in the Machine and Synchronicity

If you like the sounds and grooves of 80's synthesisers then I think you're even more likely to enjoy many of their music, to my ears they were always great in creating really catchy synth drenched grooving melodies and also artful jamming at all, great music indeed. I think you won't go wrong beginning with their debut "Speak & Spell" and then going straight forward :)

Police's Zenyatta Mondatta and Ghost In The Machine are perhaps my favourites, on those two I find Copeland's drumming the most enjoyable. But then we have the '79 "Regatta de Blanc" with 'Walking On The Moon' and 'The Beg's Too Big Wihout You', so I think most of their discography is really good.
