Couldn't let the thread go by with out a least one mention of Akira Kurosawa.

Here are two pictures pf the master directing Yojimbo and Throne Of Blood. By the time of Yojimbo, Kurosawa and Toshiro Mifune had created one of the greatest actor/director relationships ever.

Thank you, Glenn. Nice to see little Bela, Jr. again. And of course Frankenstein taking a smoke break.

You are welcome Steve. I have many more Universal monsters movie "behind the scenes" pictures at home that I can post later on tonight, but I was afraid to clog up the thread with monsters. I find the pictures fascinating but I'm not sure that others do.:D

Boy, Boris liked his tea and cigarettes, huh? Almost every picture I have of him as Frankenstein's monster includes a smoke and/or tea.

Thanks. Tried to find a picture that I saw once of Kurosawa talking to Toshiro Mifune on the set of Throne Of Blood while Mifune was full of arrows. Couldn't find it.

I was told by one of the optical guys at Modern Film Effects that they did all the Star Wars titles, including the opening and closing credits. Once Lucas got ILM totally up and running in San Rafael, his people did pretty much everything.

Here's another shot of Kubrick "on the moon":

Not a lot of people are aware of the fact that Kubrick often operated the camera on his films. I'm looking forward to Doug Trumbull's upcoming documentary on the making of 2001 -- I bet he has some amazing stories to tell.

Apparently Lon Chaney Jr. like to bring his dog Moose to the set so...

A real color photo of the wolfman on the set of The House Of Dracula.
    Boris with director James Whale.
The wolfman with Bela Lugosi Jr. (That kid got around)
A studio composite shot of Universal stars. I think they got the monsters head wrong.:D This sounds like the start of a joke: So, Bing Crosby, W. C. Fields, and the Frankenstein monster are standing around....

The way the heads sit on the bodies in that shot of The Graduate (post #32), doesn't it almost look like a Photoshop job? I know its not, but their heads look strange.

Star Wars pictures in post #36 - is that a stunt Leia?

Last batch for the night :
    The Incredible Shrinking Man props.
Looking at the back of the Psycho house and down to the Universal monster movies, etc., set. The picture was taken in the Sixties.
Steve, is that set area still there, or is it a parking lot or something now ?

Steven Spielberg (I think) taking a break on the Jaws set.
Two photos from the Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein set.

P.S. One more cool thing you guys might not have seen:

Here is the only known actual color footage of Boris Karloff in his Frankenstein monster makeup, taken on the Son Of Frankenstein set.

I don't understand why this thread isn't at least 20 pages long.
At any rate, here's one of my favorite behind the scenes shots from "This Island Earth"
I don't know why, but it reminds me of the "Ed Sullivan Show".........
